If you read the OPEN rule: "topics are allowed to evolve to new discussions".
If the topic turns to a flame war it's allowed, although the individual flame posts are not allowed.

I'm glad flyby is gone. I would have banned him for his cold elitist comments anyway, under the 'lowering the tone rule'

THANK YOU for your personal appreciation, Detail. -_-
A little bird told me to get back to the last debate, but I prefer not to pollute the TFH forum with my reaction as it does not resort under any related topic over there.

If I was blamed to start a flame war, where no personal or group (TFH) insult was issued, what then to think about a moderator that feels fit to add personal insult while reaffirming he would have abused his moderating power just for personal appreciation reasons ?

-I find it intriguing that you're tempted to qualify every person that is capable of formulating his opinion in a sharp and coherent way as "elitist". You feel so much intimidated that you’d have to resort to abuse, instead simply replying in a civil way?

I fail to understand your definition of "cold elitist", so I do wonder why you make such populist comments?

Whenever I made a tool, I made it available for everyone, whenever my research results in something interesting, I’ve shared the information. I frequently take the time to train/help promising modelers and offer help with 3d related topics, because that's where I have an advantage over most ppl....( I do have 10 yrs experience)

In the unlikely case, you’d see it fit to simply delete my reaction, instead of facing it, I’ll make sure it gets carried on to other public forums that have a lot higher visitor frequency.
I wouldn't have reacted, if I didn't consider your reaction as being gross and absurd. I'll keep it in mind, next time we meet somewhere...

Before i write the rest of my post: My comments have nothing to do with anything other than personality. I'm not debating what you have made or reserched. It's just the way you post, which is linked to personality.

Rest of post: Your cold. Ice cold. I'm sure you re-read you post to check for spelling or grammer, if only brefily. You forget to check for 'niceness'.
You may help people and give good advcie, but without heart it sounds elitist.
-_-

When i watched Star Trek: First Contact i loved the part jsut after Pikard gave the order to destory the ship to stop the borg from getting it. It showed the clash between the cold heartless machine and the human emotion.
;)

I make no appologys for having emotions. I hate the idea of the un-emotinal borg race humans could become. When i walk past people on the street i say "hello", "morning" and such, only to get a cold stair back.
:uh:

I'm not sorry for having an opinion about you. However i am sorry for being un-pro and saying my non-good thought about you in public.
:(

I beleve in EUTO (each unto there own), so i have not desire to change you from the cold borg i think you to be. I just hope you can accsept my EUTO desire to have emotions and opinions.
:)

Ok, that sounds more reasonable. :min:
I'll consider the word "elitist" out of place then...

My point of view is often coloured by my professional occupation, where as some of you might consider some models as "awesome", I’ll rate them as "not bad". This is NOT because I consider myself better then all the rest, but because I have a larger spectrum I can evaluate with. My reference frame is simply larger because CGI is what I do and live for.

The reason why I may sound so distant or "cold" is because I have a different perspective then most of you: I can't get very enthusiastic when the work is only average in my eyes. And just lying to please or motivate someone, is not my style.
In most cases, if the work is so bad that I have more negative then positive to say, I’ll simply refrain from commenting on it. I'm also aware that I’m a rather critical person and that I don't give out flowers if your work isn't really good but, myself, I work under constant stream of remarks and critics by my clients. It is something one learns to deal with after a while.

And yes, I reread my post and rewrite whenever I think my ideas where not properly formulated . It fits in my philosophy of "trying your best, or don't start at it at all". I have zero tolerance for half assed work, something I apply to myself in the first place.
Besides, communicating in a more familiar style does not free you from using proper language and using a dictionary to wack out stupid spelling mistakes....;)

Oh agreed ;) , Olaf is by far the most essential person in the editing community since long. My contribution is far more modest then Olaf or Deezire and is mostly 3dsmax/gmax oriented.

RA2

-research on the RA2 normals and in cooperation with Koen and Will Sutton, incorporated that info in the VSE editor.

-voxel importer script for 3dsmax/gmax

-voxel exporter script for 3dsmax/gmax in cooperation with Will Sutton

-Automated SHP building script for RA2 (used by several RA2/yuri mod builders)

Generals
- working on a infantry bones document

- making a detailed listing of all tags in Generals

I have started work on a infantry/boning maxscript for Generals, but my current involvement with Blitz gobbles up my free time, so it's in "tha fridge" till i have completed my task with Blitz...

Can I just say about my moderating of that topic:
It was not intended to be against you as I saw nothing wrong with what you had said. I was just trying to stop people talkign about it since the talk of flaming sprouted from nothing.

Edit:

If the topic turns to a flame war it's alowed, although the individule flame posts are not alowed.

I didn't remove any topics, just the flame posts and the posts about the flame posts.

The elitest part is the shool teacher effect. A teacher my be trying to help other peoples minds grow, but the lack of happyness makes the teacher sound like thay are continualy picking faults.

I know that recently i've been doing this by mistake :(

k, detail , I get the picture... :)

@daz
Alright daz, but because there was no prior warning to the removal of my postings, I had considered this as a desperate and unjust act to silence me. It gave me the impression that some TFH hotheads had called in the moderator(s) to remove my right of answer.

Some people of both mods are apparently not capable of civilized discussion, hence big was my surprise when a simple content correction caused such a fuss. :)
I can understand the origin of the irritation and i will ask the others to keep low profile to prevent pointless flame wars in the future.

As usual, conflicts originates from misconceptions and confusion... :D

Indeed, it is a rendering i did for Blitz I, the RA2 version.. but might be tempting to get it in generals, with a few modifications...

The sad thing is that I have so little free time for this type of "recreation". :(
