Mmm... this won't happen... ever. EA sold the license back to MEE, and we won't see any new Tolkien games from EA, period. Much less BFME3, which has been petitioned numerous times without success. Not only that, I'm pretty sure a petition whose sole message is "please make a Battle for Middle Earth 3 or a new Lord of the Rings RTS" won't be taken seriously.

It doesn't have to be exactly called BFME, just a RTS with the same style as BFME. Although I agree that it probably won't be taken seriously, but I signed :D.

This will never happen (for a variety of very good reasons that I don't feel like going into now), and I strongly suggest you give up hope. ;)

1) Petitions are just shrines of the uninformed part of gaming communities. They suck by definition and almost never work, as they're run by idiots/whiners most of the time.

2) EA lost the LotR license.

3) If/when they get it back, their next LotR game won't be an RTS, especially not one that belongs to an underperforming series.

99% of games are all about the amazing current gen capacity which is best done in third or first person...

Nd I personally, I think the mods created for the BfME franchise are a hundred times better than whatever else EA would crap out next (but that's my opinion)!

It's a good opinion, because even if this petition thing went through, it wouldn't be a good thing necessarily.  WB has been making great games recently, but wanting them to make an RTS game isn't something we trust them to do... could be a disaster for the modding community, even.

After seeing Warner's take on MERP for Skyrim, I personally don't have any problems with them taking no interest in RTS, lest they try to C&D Revora.

We're protected in our obscurity.

Here's an interesting thought, what would happen if EA decided to sell the BFME games on origin?
Could WB actually sue them, EA do have copyright on their parts of Bfme even without the licence.

I don't think, what with BFME still retaining parts owned by MEE, they can resell it without a licence.

WB suing wouldn't be as much a problem as MEE's reaction.

I like how in the petition it says expantion instead of expansion... ._.

And I don't think ea is even going to bother reselling the BFME games on origin :p

If EA were to do it would there even be an issue, presumably MEE would have already gotten their money WB has no direct competition and increased exposure of a brand can only be a good thing.
If EA wanted to they probably could make BFME 3 through some arrangement, but clearly they lost interest in the property otherwise they would have renewed the licence ir negotiated something new.
So it really comes down to EA dropping yet another good thing like CnC, Pandemic and so on...how are they still in business again?

Selling crappy/buggy games? :D

And then disbanding them if they don't live up to the profits EA desires? :p

No, really, there would be a significant issue. MEE have retracted the license, EA can legally not gain any further profit from any Tolkien-related content without infringing copyright law. Thus, online retailing or a BFME3 would be pretty much like EA shitting all over MEE, then MEE dragging the entirety of EA down with legal action.

EA's got exclusive rights to Star Wars games now, I'm sure the hype is larger than the LotR\Hobbit hype.

I actually own a copy of RotWK on Origin, so at one point EA did have BFME titles for sale on Origin.
