Had the same problem. Tried creating an account with my "@t-online.de" e-mail address and never received anything (and no, also not in the spam folder).

Since you can change the e-mail address in your profile, even if you're not yet verified, I eventually figured I'd try a different address (@gmail.com). That worked immediately.
