Hello,

 

I’ve downloaded the C&C Online installer and followed the setup process correctly until it finished completely. However, after the installation is done:

• I don’t see any shortcut on the desktop

• I can’t find the program files in the C: drive

• I tried searching for the program using Windows search, but nothing shows up

• It seems like the program was never actually installed, even though the setup finished without any errors

 

I’ve tried this multiple times with the same result. Can you please help me figure out what’s going wrong?

You have not done anything wrong. Most of the installation guides out there are outdated, when it comes to Tacitus. The new client (Tacitus) does not have a launcher and it is activated automatically when the game starts. It installs itself by adding a `dsound.dll` file into each supported game's installation directory (you can search for the file inside you game's folder to verify the correct installation).

I lost my CD-key. Can I still use C&C:Online? You can use C&C:Online so long as you haven't cracked your games. Why can't we use cracked games? the games are decades old! None of the games we support are classified abandon or freeware, we also have to follow Electronic Arts Terms Of Service as well as our local laws regarding piracy and intellectual property. With making sure that we are within the TOS we have to follow can we ensure that we remain on good terms with EA and can continue to work closely together with them and coordinate patches, events, and future development efforts

We do not support piracy in any form or shape; and the games are not abandonware. You can still buy them from Steam or EA.

The Steam and EA versions got an update. You can use Chronoshift from Tacitus or add a launch parameter to the game to boot up into the older (1.12) version.

Chronoshift: Whilst in game, press `Ctrl+T` to bring up the Tacitus overlay, and then use Chronoshift to go to the older version.

Launch parameter: Add the `-runver 1.12` launch parameter to your game (right click on your game's shortcut, then properties, then add this at the end of the Target field).

What is the exact error you're getting? Can you send a screenshot of the error?

do you get an error when logging into the game or do you get a connection error when trying to start a game?

Generals and Zero Hour does not use Tacitus for their online activity. Perform a clean install of the game, then download and use Genpatcher to apply all necessary fixes, and then use it to install Gentool.
