Not saying they were bad stories or anything, but they weren't paragon Jedi. I'd say the authors made up their own rules as they went along.

Nomi Sunrider was nowhere NEAR a paragon Jedi.. she was still bad ass, though. :p

I personally always liked characters with flaws more than 'perfect' ones anyway..

Obviously beforehand, the GCW was the lifeblood of the EU, and all publications were set in that era with very few exceptions (Tales of the Jedi being the main one).

I thought that the Knights of the Old Republic comics were pretty good, though perhaps I might be the only one.

In Topic: ISD Fighter Launch Rate

The ISD uses a rate calculated for two hangars, but there's really little effort on my part to adjust for the relative size of the openings. The Quasar Fire does it, but that's more of a special case than something based on the other carriers. I would need to go into Max and measure the surface areas of every hangar opening and base it on that to make it the most authentic.

I would think ISDs and even SSDs would have incredible launch capability. A good example would be RotJ, I mean obviously all those TIEs weren't just chilling on patrol the entire time. ;)

I would think that each TIE berth would be a hangar all its own. Seeing as ships from most Rebel hangars would launch one at a time just about.

Well, you already get cost protection as base levels increase, plus any hero transports add cost. I'm not sure combat skills should apply though if you're looking at someone through a scope or lobbing a thermal detonator in their general direction. I'm pretty sure Luke or someone said that had the Noghri not wanted them alive, they would've been dead. It just seems like you could make the same argument for diplomacy mattering.

Well the only reason you would make them immune is if you added instant-lose scenarios which would only apply to the human player anyway, I'm pretty sure the AI doesn't have the ability to use bounty hunters? Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen one of my heroes sniped by the AI since.. well ever.

I'm entirely behind the idea of cost protection though. It definitely makes it a lot more interesting and makes a player wonder if it's better to kill him in RTS-mode or snipe him with a bounty hunter. Strategy is always good. :crazed:

Wouldn't it then let the air out too? Sorry, I'm trying not to assume anything for the sake of discussion tongue.gif.

Well, air could be held in by some type of magnetic field I suppose... on like a molecular level. It would be similar to how realistic "lasers" work, containing plasma in a small magnetic field which would explain why the "barrier" between space and breathable air has a slight glow to it similar to how electrons glow in plasma when it's magnetically contained.

Shields only need to be powered up during combat. Also, I'm not sure the Death Star was uniformly shielded. Critical areas were, certainly, but some of the X-wing strafing runs show lasers damaging the hull.

I would think that a hangar entrance would be a critical area and would require shielding, nobody wants stray laser blasts ruining your day when you're a mere traffic controller.

Though I could be wrong.. honestly it's a good point in general and my argument against it isn't that solid seeing as "ray" shielding could essentially do the same thing and still allow actual matter to escape.

He also talks about the Invisible Hand's hangar being an "extensive modification" of a normal Providence-class ship in the Invisible Cross Section Books. The shield generators that Anakin destroyed might have been a result of a design compromise.

Anakin could have shot a crucial power component which not only led to shield failure but also any atmospheric containment systems as well.
