Wireless problems

02 December 2008 - 09:19 PM

So.. after reformating my computer and reinstalling XP and all that malarky.. I set about my first task, setting up my wireless connection so I can use the internet, which'll then allow me to get all my drivers and updates and whatnot.

After initially having some problems when we first installed it when we moved into this house (2 years ago) with it not connecting etc., and the occasional day when it just *keeps* disconnecting it's been working pretty well, so I figured I wouldn't have any problems getting it back up and running. Wrong.

First of all there was a sort of conflict between Belkin and Windows arguing over who had control (even manually changing the settings would only last for a few minutes before one reclaimed it), so I looked around on the internet for some advice and they recommended uninstalling the Belkin software, installing *just* the drivers from the disc, and letting Windows look after the rest of it.

Which at least meant it started showing possible networks I could connect to. And our home one was there so I selected it and entered our key and it thought about it.. and it thought about it.. and it thought about it.. and then it gave me that Limited or No connectivity rubbish.

But I went and changed the IP manually and managed to get it to connect to the network. Wonderful! Or so I thought.. now it'll connect to the network just fine, but I still can't access the internet (which is sort of the point) and I swear I've tried everything that's been recommended and still nothing.

Just wondering if anyone here has anything to suggest, I'm at a bit of a loose end. D:
