#908807 [BFME 1] Patch 1.05

To be fair, I don't think EA actually sell it any more, so it isn't stealing any money from them in terms of sales.

#907645 Morgoth: A Forum Revisit

Posted by Irenë Hawnetyne on 12 December 2012 - 07:20 PM

It's a bit of a shame really, that this place is dead and rotting, so it'd be nice if some other people actually started using it - I, at least, plan to do so.

Anyway, for those of you who followed the Quenta Silmarillion division of the BFME2 From Book to Game mod, you might remember I created a ... mediocre, at best, model for Morgoth, which sparked much controversy over my interpretation of his form being something not quite humanoid. This I have continued, despite my leaving of FB2G, and have kept and completed the model, as I always wanted to do, in an extravagantly detailed version which sports over 128,000 polys, in ZBrush. Now you might see why I put this in the Art forums instead of BFME's, as that many polys is a SAGE-killer.
So, here's the one I made somewhere around late April 2012:

My god, it's so ... bad!
Anyway, since then, I've been honing my skills with ZBrush, and whilst I'm not an expert, it's still better than that ^.
Here 'tis, the December 2012 Morgoth, which, whilst not textured or UV'd, is probably my best model yet.

#897165 From Book to Game: 18/08/2012 Update

Posted by Irenë Hawnetyne on 18 August 2012 - 06:40 AM

Greetings to all who would listen, we apologize for the slight lack of the last few 'weekly updates', as unforeseeable events took place, hindering our progress. However, as you may have gathered from the title, we're back with lots of updates. Firstly, our head coder and programmer {IP} Apollo has completely revamped our website to make it far less cumbersome for updating and faster to load, and we plan to add a number of new features.

Now we move on to the newly unveiled maps, constructed by Bofur01:

Borders of Lorien

Deadman's Dike

Northern Mirkwood

And now on to new models and skins, created by myself:

Revamped (Monster) Lair

Dunedain Ballista

Posted Image

Goblin Scavenged Armours

Note that these skins will be randomly applied to Scavenged Armoured units, for realistic effect.

Barad-Dur Map Prop

(As yet untextured)

And lastly for the update, I have a new wallpaper for you guys, if you want to use it:

The entire team thanks you for reading and your continued support, though we've also to announce that two of our number have now officially left, Pas5evermark and {IP} Solstice, whom we will miss dearly, myself particularly, as they have been mapping for Quenta Silmarillion since its very inception.
This is a story that will stay with us. That means something, even if we're too small to understand why. But I think, dear members of Revora, we do understand. We know now. Folk in stories have had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. What are we holding on to? That there’s some good in this world, fellow Revorians… and it’s worth modding for.

Yeah, a graphics section would be good, but don't be hasty. Whilst BFME might be one of the more popularly modded games, RA and Phoenix Rising modding has quite some interest still, unless I'm mistaken, but also the fact that a game's more often modded doesn't mean that game's popular, just possibly that those who enjoy BFME modding do a lot, or are nuts. Which perfectly describes a number of us.
Also, about the staff, I love you guys, however active you are, and your status alone shows how much you've done for this community, but mostly I've seen the work of Bart and Phil, and I personally would say, if they haven't moved on, to stay, cause they provided us with a home (in a way), and I don't think it's really right that we should say such things about people who gave so much time into helping others.

That's just my morality though. Not very much useful stuff there, sorry.

I've gotta get me some of that! Though I thought it'd be more based on African/Indian symbolism.

EDIT:

Link please

What to?

#885593 From Book To Game: Quenta Silmarillion

Posted by Irenë Hawnetyne on 10 May 2012 - 05:46 AM

OK, thanks for all your help guys, it does put it in perspective. As you say, it is a public mod, and it should be the people we cater for, not ourselves. And Kwen, many thanks for the advice which I'm taking to strongly.

Plus conceptual art for new orcs', Balrogs' and Morgoth's textures:

All the above artworks are by me, and have had time taken over them. Don't nab them. I will find you, and I will batter you with a cheesecake slice!

#879728 From Book To Game: Quenta Silmarillion

Posted by Irenë Hawnetyne on 17 March 2012 - 10:36 PM

Recently, the teams of From Book to Game (here on in FB2G) and Quenta Silmarillion merged, forming a large company, named after the former, which is developing two related mods, dedicated to bringing the lore of Tolkien's legendarium to BFME2. The original FB2G can speak for itself, hosted and not without interest from the Revora and ModDB communities.

But the crew have been hard at work on Quenta Silmarillion, having produced vast quantities of designs, models, art and maps, which is why we're posting here - to show our worthiness to get hosted with Revora.

Below, I've put a number of my most recent models to show some of the stuff I've been up to, and the mappers, Past5evermark and future4, plus ReallyFat (our coder and other artist), will be posting some of their produce below too.

If you've read this, thank you for taking the time to do so, and we hope you

enjoy the mod when it's released as much as we've enjoyed making it!

#873496 UVW Mapping

This is probably my favourite UV mapper, but you need it in an OBJ format to map, so you'll probably need to re-bind your model (not too sure about that, I mostly do buildings).
