How to add a Unit to the A.I.

28 November 2010 - 11:09 PM

Could some one pinpoint me to a tutorial or write it up step by step how to add a new unit to the exsisting arsenal of the A.I. generals, so they build and use new units accordingly. Havent tried this part of the editing yet so no clue how to do it, but likely be easier and gonna get it sooner then texturing models :shiftee2:

P.S: If its okie with some screenshots added ^^;

A little FX headacke

Now i'm curriuse how can i make this work properly.

My first idea was to make it into the model, and thats how the model is rigged. The Dual rings at each anti grav engine rotates at high speed, and in the editor the attached bones to the ring rotate as well, now ingame the bone remain static. I'm not sure even changing the model could fix this, make the bones into actual geometries which you see rotate, and i rater not change the model now as it took me quite a lot time to get it done so nicely.

My second approach is make the ring purely out of coding, now editing the particle systems file, but so far i havent seen any code line that i could use to rotate the emitted effect, not in the particle system at last. In FX list theres such a code that makes the effect orianted to the object, thing is how i attach an full FX to the vehicle with out sacrefising a weapon.

So i asking every one, the big FX geniuses how to pull this off :thumbsupsmiley:

Thanks in advance if some one could help and point me to the right direction ( even if just tell me which vanilla unit code lines i need to dig into )

An quite an Special power

15 November 2010 - 01:10 PM

Now that i working on my mod, specificly the transformation of the Infantry general to an Electronic Warfare general, i come up with this special power for him, which quite evil if possible to pull it off.

I want make an passive ability ( like satellite hack ) which will reduce all opponents energy output by 33% leave allies at normal and increase yours with 33% ( exception from this rule are any other E.W. general player ) So basicly you steal your opponents power while increase your own, if could be done this way would be very sweet and non less evil.

Plan B if this not possible is simple, it'll reduce your own power consuption, of all your buildings with 50% ( power production upgrade ) and no effect to your opponents.

Thoughs on is it possible to do it, and to where to look for codes thats usable for this trick? :)

Looking for some help please

As you can guess i'm kinda new to modelling.

Now i made quite a few models and they made it to ingame and working well, but there are a few issues with them and deffenatly at the exporting parts. Could some one redirect me to how to export the models properly so parts that mean to be transparent will be transparent or use correct alpha chaneling ( muzzle flash for example, its not like a flame hold in a black box ) and so on, would be lot of help.

Also an simplier tutorial how to texture, skin the models properly as i havent done that part at alll yet.

To see what i'm working on heres a quick link to my mod
