I'm back to not being able to connect to other players. It was intermittent, now it hasn't worked for several days. I've tried everything suggested here on this forum. I'd like to try to use the network option, using a VPN (virtual private network) to connect to my friend's computer diectly over the Internet. Has anyone done this successfully?

A problem came up very suddenly a couple of days ago. My buddy and I had been playing a game almost every day, then suddenly we'd get a disconnect pop up (with the vote thing) right after starting up a multiplayer game. I hadn't changed anything in the game or the router settings.

 

I did a deinstall/reinstall of the game, checked the router, UDP ports, game exe settings, IP address in options.ini, all per the instructions on this site. The damn thing just keeps disconnecting immediately after game start. I tried to play with another player online, and it did the same thing. What else should I check?

The last few times my buddy and I have played online, the game has had a "game has detected a mismatch" crash. It happened once or twice before, but last night both games we tried crashed. Any ideas for the causes and any fix?

My buddy and I were trying to play a generals zero hour game online last night. He was able to connect and get into a game that I had put up, but then after we tried to start the game it said "Waiting probe response", and then disconnected and said "unable to connect to player".It happened to him after an Origin update. It seems like Origin might have changed something with the latest update. Any ideas?
