POTUS I assume is a skin disease of the scrotum which looks rather like the faces of Trump and Clinton.

Last year, AAA titles for PC were abysmal. From Arkham Knight, Assassin's Creed, and even to Black Ops 3, it's easy to see that the great game of compatibility balancing is destroying the PC gaming market.
It's a decision will balance the grounds between PC and consoles. We're already clearly in the lead in the great game, but this change in design will send consoles leagues into a sea of obsolete despair. It's not just about gaming, but it might very well be the biggest advantage of this.

Yeah this sounds like a nightmare that only solidifies people's collective stupidity.

I disagree with you here on quite a fundamental level. I think what video game fans need to do is really support "visionaries" and directors in video games. Gamers are always complaining, and should complain, about the endless spewing of triple-A titles that are barely distinguishable from one another and because of the yearly output are released with reduced the quality, putting enormously unfair pressure on the developers, and still expect us to fork out for these inferior productions. This is because they're corporate driven by boardrooms, much like Hollywood. Those people do not know how to make games other than on a production level, and do not understand what gamers actually like. They just follow market trends. The only way to counter that is to support the developers, and individuals who actually have something artistic to say in the video game medium. People who actually know what makes a good story and good gameplay and see a particular direction in which to take a game or series, not just repeat more of the same.
And you say "he wasted money that wasn't his" but Konami did give the money to him. It's very unfair to blame only him for any or all issues that arose. At some point the money stops, yes, and he has a responsibility to come out with game at the end of it, but Konami also entrusted him to do it, and for them to try to wash their hands of the whole thing is a stab in the back too.
I'm definitely not saying Kojima is perfect as a person or whatever, because I don't know him. However, even if he has the biggest ego in the world and is just a dick, I think character quirks and flaws come with being an "artist". It doesn't mean he personally shouldn't try to overcome those things or learn the production side of game making better, but simply because he is a strong, distinct, directorial voice in the games industry, in an ocean of corporate grey, I think he needs to be supported and we need more people like him.

1/10, terrible review.
It's up to the developers whether they want to continue to patch the mod or not. You didn't pay for it, or contribute to it's creation. It was purely the work of passionate hobbyists. Any fandom I'm sure is welcome, but when you stop being supportive and start being entitled, it stops being helpful.
You clearly haven't tried to inform yourself on why saving and loading is disabled. It's done so because the logic takes a lot of work to fix and maintain while new gameplay logic is being added to Ares. Now, MO 3.0 relies very heavily on new Ares logics and most, if not all modern mods, wouldn't be half as interesting without it. It's been incredibly valuable in keeping mods fresh after 15 years of YR modding. So getting rid of saving/loading is an easy choice IMO. AlexB has been working very hard on getting it to work and made great progress, but it will always be something that needs to be maintained as features are added, and he's just a hobbyist too, working on Ares all by his lonesome.
How do hard missions really make it "very disappointing"? You're ignoring all the good stuff just because it's too hard for you. It's too hard for me too, but the incredible voxel work, the new faction designs, all the maps and sounds, gamemodes- everything is of the highest quality in the community and just because I can't finish the missions doesn't make it a bad game, at all. It might be a negative for you, but it cannot ruin the whole thing. Furthermore the missions are almost objectively better in terms of design and technical complexity than any 2.0 mission, and that needs recognizing too. Not to mention 2.0 missions were often broken or had you hunt down the last stealth tank like a dummy.
A closed beta is again the developers prerogative. They don't owe you anything. They can pick and choose who they want. And let's face it, there have been MO 3.0 leaks in the past too that can give people the wrong impression if things change afterwards. They don't even need to have a beta if they don't want to. Surprises are always nice and waiting for it is fine, as long as the final release is beautiful.
Your review of post support is also silly. 1/10 forgets all the community support that has been going on. There's always someone here responding to people's technical troubles, feedback and idea contributions, lore discussions etc. There are constant news posts to supply people with the latest development information. That doesn't deserve 1/10, it's better than a lot of real games companies. The lack of patches is a fair criticism I share, but again they owe neither of us anything.
Also, MO 1.2 didn't have any missions, so that seems factually inaccurate.
I'm not a developer, I don't have access to the new beta and I'm no MO fanboy. I just think this topic is crap.

Firstly, we in the west are "allies" of SA. I'm suspecting that Obama's agreements with Iran is a diplomatically sound realignment to this. If we can be on good terms with Iran, we can avoid a east-west conflagration between Shias and Sunnis directly supported by Iran. Still, if SA falls, many nations will fall with them. Iraq, Yemen, Qatar, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, etc. Most of these nations are dependent on a strong SA (third largest military budget in the world today,) so if they fall, we'll have a political vacuum that certain forces will be eager to fill.
Why would the others fall?
Iraq & Syria are not friends of or relying on SA. Iraq is now requesting Russian aid to fight ISIS, which the US has challenged by saying that if this happens the US will stop helping Iraq altogether... well if Iraq does go with Russia, then they'll be completely on the "other side". Not to mention they have been working with Iran since the beginning to fight ISIS too, they don't rely on SA for aid at all. Syria is already in indirect conflict with Saudi Arabia, as they believe SA has been aiding the Syrian rebels, which includes ISIS.
Libya is already a failed state, they can't get any worse and are incapable of doing anything outside of their own borders. Whoever "they" is right now.
The invasion of Yemen would also stop, which would be good for them... the new Yemeni government would be able to, hopefully, deal with ISIS there too and would likely be aided by Iran and others if right now that wouldn't mean war with the Saudis.
Not to mention plenty of terrorism would stop altogether, and in fact it would allow for a true end to the whole thing further down the line... without the SA seed, terrorist groups could actually be mopped up by well intended forces and wouldn't have an infinite supply of money, weapons and ideological investment.

I don't think anyone is suggesting there should be no factory workers. We're saying that the system should be made to work in their favour so that they can work in a factory without dropping below the poverty line. More investment in these people leads to a better world for everyone. It's not an evil to work in a factory, it should just be a better compensated job. As for people always exploiting others, that needs to be curbed, which it already is to a large degree. I assume there is a minimum wage in the US, there are many laws that employers must comply with when hiring employees, there are rent caps, slavery is no longer allowed... there are many tools to stop people being exploited, they just don't go far enough. Currently they are just enough to stop an uprising but they should be pushed in favour of the majority and the 1% should be made to pay their fair share at the very least.
Just look up Universal Basic Income as one idea to readdress things. It's an idea that's been around for a long time. I believe Switzerland might be trialing it at some point, or at least I heard that it was in discussion. They also trialed something similar in a Namibian village recently and showed that health increased, school attendance went up and crime was reduced by 50%.
What you seem to be saying is that there will be factory workers and there shouldn't be a welfare system to help them, which is pretty mad considering the rest of the economy relies on factory workers.
Also someone working in a factory vs someone in finance isn't a class separation and I don't know why you think it is. You seem to think that one is inherentely better than the other, which is one of the problems of the system in the first place. People are told to get a certain type of job where they make the most money while doing the least. It's like capitalistic laziness. So certain jobs where you get to wear a suit and feel like part of the crowd are made to look better and they're unrealistically paid better too. There shouldn't even be classes at all in America considering there is no monarchy. There is no divinely appointed overlord or "long to reign over us" nonsense like in our anthem. There is just a lot of equal people doing different jobs.
All I see is things getting harder with continued price increases, lower wages and austerity (while national debt and deficit has continued to rise regardless, it is a hoax). My mother is now working more hours with two jobs in a smaller place than she was when I was born 22 years ago. I just don't see why things should keep getting harder when the entire 'dream' propogated by society is that if you work hard you get somewhere. It isn't true, it's just what they want you to believe so you continue struggling in vain.
I laugh every time I hear news reports of the economy 'getting better', as if it is designed with the goal of growing and helping everyone. If the economy gets better everyone's lives improve and one day we will all have whatever we want, but that isn't the case. The system isn't designed to improve anything just continue to rotate. Reaching post recession levels is supposed to sound like a good thing as if everything was alright then. And it's the working people that have to pay for it, not the aristocracy.

upper classes to take care of those in the lower
Im all for charity and trust me I donate a decent amount to them however I don't want to be forced to help anyone.
That is why I don't support welfare, feeding the poor etc. If we (the US) advocated a more work orientated welfare system, where those on welfare earn the money by working in a civil service or military position and agreed to be drug tested then I see no problem with the system.

No ones lost imagination it's just the people with money don't fund those with the imaginations. The space race was political and the US/Russia put effort into it (though none of the people at the top had any more imagination than they do now, besides imagining a political victory). Nowadays it's all military budget... we could quite literally do anything if funding went to the right places.
Also overpopulation fixes itself. We won't keep going indefinitely once a limit is reached and we can always stop ourselves too. Saying comfortable people have more kids is completely wrong, it's exactly the opposite. Developed countries have lower birth rates. Better educated people with more prospects have better things to do, don't get pregnant at an early age and know that a smaller family is more sustainable in their economy. Most of the world isn't in a comfortable situation. Instead of continuing war to keep people oppressed, increase the idiocy by destroying education systems, forcing people to fight back and turn to religion and political fanatics only increases world problems and in no way reduces the population in an efficient way. We don't even need to colonise other planets if we just take back power from the blind morons at the top and start addressing real problems at the root.

Yes, the next version of Ares is now available in a stable and nicely packaged form thanks to our hero AlexB, including Windows 8 fixes (no, not fixing the operating system itself, that is beyond the project!), new modding abilities and a reworked manual. Get ready for the next wave of Ares powered mods!
Hello guys,
Today is Ares 0.7 release day! Ares 0.7 fixes a few memory issues that were affecting all operating systems, but that had a habit of crashing on Windows 8. They all have been fixed, so this Ares version is more stable than ever. Of course, there are also some new features, like the customizable score screen graphics and themes, and several old ones like the Drop Pod and Hunter Seeker super weapons. Another bunch of features is related to the Cyborg Reaper's Splits missile logic, which has been implemented in Ares, and which needed Ranged and ProjectileRange to be implemented as well. It's all there, and now it is possible to recreate the Cyborg Reaper's missiles in YR (not the net-thrower weapon, though).
There are lots of more small features, like better support to create landmines, prevent units from scattering when repaired by a warhead, treat civilian units as enemies, and custom airstrike voices. You'll find them in the documentation, which has a new What's New page where you can easily see what features were added recently. Even if it does not show bugfixes for the original game, there were some of them, too. The inefficient aircraft smoke lookup has been replaced by a new system with customizable smoke animations and probabilities. And of course, lots of internal Ares code was updated. The Migration Guide in the manual lists only one item, and this time you need to take no steps to upgrade.
Regarding the documentation: It is in a transitional state. The table of contents got longer and longer and items on the same topic were spread over the entire length. This will hopefully be sorted out soon. As of now, the search feature will no longer display formatting texts, but almost only the pure text you see on a page. This should make it easier to find the right page.
That's it for today. Happy Modding!
