I know this isn´t maybe appropriated to ask for this in this post. I´ve commented this before and you were so kind to comment on this subject, though i didn´t get favorable answer, as i was asking if you could make contra mod for C&C3 engine, but that´s not the issue, and i understand why you don´t want to.

 

The thing is, that GuNsHiP_MK_II (http://www.moddb.com...erals-evolution) says he has asked you for help with his mod as he´s working on moving Generals into the RA3 engine for better performance (no random network errors, "over heating hardware, virus..." error messages or general crashes, making Generals unplayable), but he says that you´ve ignored him, why? 

 

I would jump on this opportunity as he didn´t even want to make other than basic vanilla generals mod to begin with, now he´s willing to make his mod in the image of Contra mod, only in a better and more powerful engine! With all due respect, why are you so persistent and closed to the idea of Contra crossing over and evolving in another game engine? Generals is getting too old, too much lag, network errors and other general issues, i would love to see Generals work 100%, i would play that game daily and LAN it as much as i could, but i can´t and so can´t many others! Now we have a chance of playing Contra in a much better engine, but you stick with the past, although, it´s a fantastic past, it´s just time to face the music and move on, and GuNsHiP_MK_II has made the groundwork for you, he only needs skins / textures and so on, if you could PLEASE provide him with that? You can still work on Contra for Generals, but now you can get Contra in other C&C engines :) You surely can see the logic in this, I´m sure you can make some sort of deal with him.

I´ve tried to play 2 games, and as far as i know, the only AI that works little, is infantry and toxic generals, and they don´t do much, barely build units and buildings. It took me 5 minutes to wipe out 4 very hard, so... the AI definitely needs fixing if this mod is to be tested further :) Thanx for an awesome mod!

It sounds interesting, it could give us solution with naval units etc. But much work is needed to transfer every unit, particles, maps etc to a new engine...to code everything. And not to mention that it is whole another game and not generals anymore. Well, its worth of discussion.


There are too much effects in the video, which interrupt the player's view and affect the gameplay in a negative way. Some graphic effects are redundant. Naval units can be implemented in different ways. To all Contra fans out there - we will improve the graphics in the full 008.


The only trouble is that, Generals Zero hour (SAGE engine) isn´t as good as the RA3 (RNA), and it doesn´t support as good multiplaying as RA3 does. I´m getting very tired of Generals always crashing and lagging, i suggested this change because i think Generals is just getting too old, i´m sorry, i´m kicking me for saying this, but it´s true, and now there is an opportunity to migrate over to a game engine that is much better, not to mention, the mod (evolution) has done most of the work converting RA3 to Generals, and to make it even easier, Gunship has made this mod open sourced, just so great mods like Contra, Shockwave and others can migrate more easily to the RNA engine, my vote (if i may be so bold as to give me one) is to move to the RNA engine as it´s much better suited for visual effects, multiplayer and so on :)

And yes, i agree, maybe too much visual effect going on there, but that´s the nature of war, it´s messy, smokey and so on, but i guess you could dial it down little if you would migrate over, if not, then it doesn´t really matter :) I just know that, when Evolution is ready, i´ll be playing that and i´m afraid that Generals zero hour has sung it´s last song in the SAGE engine at least... well.. until Generlas 2 :p

GuNsHiP_MK_II is doing a totall makeover on RA3 so that it will look like generals zero hour, giving generals zero hour a facelift it needs. This of course, would be worth mentioning if it weren´t for the fact that he is going to make the mod open sourced, meaning, anyone can make changes to the mod and thus, for example, import mods like the awesome Contra. Would it be possible for you to maybe make Contra 009 for the Generals (RA3) evolution mod? I would very much like to see Contra get a total overhaul / facelift, better graphics and all.
