Instead of adding yet another tier on top of all of it, I'd rather see a sort of "side-tier" for naval battles, like naval Tech Building, naval defenses, naval airfield, maybe even an ore refinery with an amphibious harvester, if possible.and an expansion to the naval arsenal to have more naval units that are equivalents to the roles of each faction's ground units, making a naval-only economy and base completely viable like in Red Alert 3 or Total Annihilation. If all that would be possible, it could even be its own gamemode with its own maps, where the Naval Yard would be counted as your Conyard and everything is on water.

On second thought, it would be an interesting twist if Yuri was really doing this for the "good" of humanity. Like he knows about a bigger threat, but the only way to defeat it is to "unite" and "prepare" humanity. Unite it through mind control, and prepare through genetic modifications.

I don't think the Meisters care, because from the get go, Act 2 and up were never going to be any sort of remake or retelling or alternate version of Yuri's Revenge, but a completely new story. So it doesn't matter at all where it goes, what changed, all that. It was supposed to be completely new.

I also think that proto-Foehn should have some special stolen tech and other in their Origin campaign, which would work as a sort of precursor tech for them. Like how they got to build early Future Tanks in Tainted Empire, or maybe getting the Infector Tank too later. Maybe with Rashidi's help, they could get the Syckle. The Iron Dragon is obvious. Maybe the Grumble could be a potential connection to the Golden Rocket tech, for example. And later in Act 3, there could be a mission all about finding the last intact Allied Tech Center to find the mirage tech and develop the Phantasm.

 

And maybe in Act 3, since the Epsilon (or Reptoir) controlling most of the world, they could have access to "hybrid" tech, as in, other stolen tech units, like all the Epsilon ones (with modified Salamanders that don't use Foehn tech, and such). And of course, just like with the Cyborg Prototypes, the campaign could use other cut units as well.

 

Campaign is all about interesting scenarios and battles that would be unlikely in MP or Skirmish, so a "regular balance" doesn't really make sense, so the MM can go wild with the different sort of units and whatnot.

 

(Also, I'd still love to see a tower defense mission, with all sorts of custom towers.)

I have no problems with the existence of Foehn and Yunru being one its leaders, but it does feel a little bit "out of the blue". This is why I wish that their Origins campaign to be extended to 12 missions. Epsilon needed 12 missions for their backstory to be well fleshed out as well, and I'd like to see that with Foehn too, instead of "welp here's Celestial Being led by a barely old enough girl out of the blue without much explanation". I mean sure, at this point a third of the Soviet campaign is technically part of the Foehn origin story, but it still feels "off".

 

Though I guess that the "main" Foehn origin story would be not where it -came- from, but what it -becomes- during the possible timeskip between Act 2 and 3.

I actually like those ideas. Yunru having a respected general on her side makes a lot more sense than some barely a woman commanding such a respect with seemingly enormous army. (I mean, I know that the Foehn was supposed to be low in numbers, but all those paratroopers at the end of Nobody Home suggests otherwise.)

Weren't there tutorials like that in the past? Because I know that back in the day, like 10 years ago, I did learn how to make campaign levels for RA2, using all the features mentioned above. There must have been a tutorial I used.

I still don't understand what Siegfried says in Zero Signal, because the voice is just so silent.

 

Same with the "Yuri" in Golden Gate. They really need "subtitles".

Maybe we really need an Act 0 tutorial campaign that eases people into Act 1 difficulty, instead of thrown into it.

Heh, kinda cool, though I feel it's somewhat weird to control Epsilon units that won't be available until late Act 1 and Act 2.

 

Maybe that previously mentioned Act 0 could be a tutorial series. Telling a "backstory" to the whole conflict, while also providing a tutorial. Maybe like 3 missions, one with each faction, explaining their "origins" and focusing on the style of missions the player will face with those factions in Act 1. (Maybe squad and hero control with Allies while also basic controls, base building and economy with Soviets, micromanagement, deploy and support powers with Epsilon.)

Alright, using the site's campaign section, the mission briefings, playthrough videos, loval's previous list and all that, I have constructed a new, hopefully accurate timeline of Mental Omega's campaign, including the the new coop missions included in 3.3. Obviously Act 2 is not yet complete.
