#1090546 Vanilla units who still miss some of their lines in MO

Aside from just Kirov's attack lines I spotted two vanilla units who still miss their lines from vanilla. Dunno if there are more, but so far I noticed the following two:

 

Kirov:

"Mayday! Mayday!" - used in vanilla when Kirov is shot down.

"We're losing attitiude!" - same as above. In MO could be used either as a death or fear line for Kirov.

*scream* - iirc there are two screams Kirov has in vanilla. They're used when Kirov is shot down. Could be restored in MO.

 

Navy SEAL:

"Going down!" - an attack line against buildings in vanilla.

"Special delivery!" - a line used when SEAL is ordered to attack buildings.

"A little C4 knocking at your door!" - Chrono commando's vanilla line used when he is created. Could be used for SEAL when he is ordered to attack buildings.

 

Desolator:

"Spread the doom!" - movement line in vanilla.

"Make it glow!" - an attack line in vanilla.

"Let's make an oasis of death!" - a deploy line in vanilla. Can be used either for deploy or attack like in some mods.

 

All of these lines can be easily restored in MO. Will they return?

Today I thought of something else. After Mental Omega is activated, what will soviets on the Moon do? Will they join Foehn or will they fight wage guerilla warfare against Epsilon by themselves? If anything, they will have all the reaons not to trust/dislike Yunru due to Thread of Dread.

 

So, if they decide to stay independent I came up with what they can potentially do. They will keep producing Cyborg Vanguards, but they desperately lack manpower and tech to fight Epsilon that now has an entire world at their disposal. In this case a series of Covert Ops can be made. They will use their rockets to deploy their forces anywhere on Earth and attack Epsilon's supply lines and salvage as much tech as possible. In order to overcome manpower issues, Soviets capture some Pandora Hubs and defend them until they get Cloning Vats back in their database and acquire Brutes as well (there is a MO fan-mission called Whoop which inspired me of this thought where Soviets attempted to use Brutes against Epsilon). An another mission can be dedicated to Soviets getting Driller APCs and Speeder trike blueprints in order to create Syckles. Syckles fit in Drillers, which will be suitable for rapid strikes. Other missions can be about Soviets getting Chrono Ivans and some other allied tech (Chrono tech, Prism tech and Future Tanks for example), Voltmortars and more Chinese tech (Nuwas, Dragonflies and Erradicators as a better replacement for Desolators). They will also encounter Foehn squads and attack them since they see them as enemies too. They can salvage Iron Dragons and maybe some Foehn tech as well. Finally, with enough tech and manpower and lunar base being turned into a strong fortress they can start actively fighting Epsilon.

Would be very neat if somebody makes missions about for example Chinese invasion of Japan, war in Korea and other things which were left unshown in actual campaign and Speeder includes them as covert ops in next update.

Remember Black Centurion from MO 2.0? I just got a thought in my mind that theoretically Foehn can rebuild Centurion as a far more powerful Black Centurion for campaign only.

I have a suggest for allies. Their power system is unbearable since 50% of late game as them you just spam power plants in order to not to get low power after building Ore Purifier, SWs, Warpshop and Gap Generators. So here is an idea: price and power from regular PP remain the same, but it's upgrade's power produced and price are doubled.

Voltmortar can be a splash tesla trooper with damage and EMP like tesla cruiser has.

Months ago Voltmortar was suggested to be added as Russia's unique infantry. Just remove stealth and make them anti-unit or infantry artillery with Scuds being anti-building artillery. Tesla trooper can be replaced with a version with slightly more hp and range and a short EMP, but more expensive and slower. Plot-wise it can appear in last missions of Soviets with the justification like "With Chinese tech we completed these projects".

I have a suggestion regarding countering Drillers and stealth units. When they're detected, map shows where, but it's impossible to constantly look at the map. So, how about recording one general EVA line for all factions or a text message that appears in upper left corner like "Subterrainian/stealth unit detected!"?

I have a suggestion for future MO versions. On some maps you can capture a neutral old tech center from RA1, but it gives you nothing, so I have an idea what can be done to make it useful.

 

After you capture it you can get one of the following buildings to build or units by random (like Tech Lab):

1. Mammoth tank from RA1.

2. Nuclear demo-truck from RA1.

3. Iron Curtain for one unit like in RA1.

4. Nuclear silo from RA1 (stronger than missle strike from tech missle silo, bu weaker than Tactical Nuke).

5. Tesla tank from RA1.

Will we eventually get Covert Op missions where we will play as China? Would love to see missions about an invasion of Japan and later missions as both PF and China about their war after Singularity. I also think we can get missions about Scorpion Cell's secret operations against Epsilon.

Few days ago I completed "Enforcers" coop mission and noticed one weird thing: Soviets for some reason use Epsilon version of Lasher Tanks instead of Lashers from Human Shield (they have both a different color and voiceset). Will this be fixed for lore consistency?

 

An another thing is that there are enemy Bulldog Tanks in The Gardener. How did they end up there?

So, after thinking about the changelog there are two things I want developers to take a look at in the future.

 

IMO, EMP mines shouldn't have been nerfed THIS hard. Yeah, they were incredibly OP and abusable, but the main problem lies not in damage done by them, but in them being spawned in clusters right under your enemy infantry's legs. They were the best in 3.0 where they were built like walls so you couldn't spam the hell out of them so easily. Now they will hardly useful if at all. In my humble opinion what should be made is to keep the price increase and make them be built like in 3.0. Damage nerfed too, but not as hard.

 

Foxtrots were nerfed way too hard in 3.3.1 after being broken in 3.3.0. What I liked them for there was that they were useful against all factions. The problem with them was a way too good damage with which they tech sniped and could snipe War Miners as well while currently only Harriers can do it since they are specialized to be anti-vehicle jets. It's good that their price is getting decreased, but there is still a major problem with them gameplay-wise. Currently they suck hard unless you play vs Epsilon where they can snipe some Duneriders and Adepts pretty well. Against Allies they can snipe a group of SEALs/Spies and that's all about it. Against Soviets they are pretty much useless. They can injure Pyros and Teslas before they are put in Borillo/Armadillo and later on they become utterly irrelevant because Soviets will be mainly relying on vehicles and even sniping Morales with them is a matter of luck. Against Foehn you can pretty much forget about them because they have no uses at all vs Foehn while in 3.3.0 you could snipe Finalize, Eureka and some buildings with them.

 

What I want to say is that they are easily the worst of aircraft in MO because they work somewhat ok only against Epsilon and to a lesser extent against Allies while Harriers, Stormchildren and Eagles are useful against ANY opponent at ANY stage of the game. I already suggested in feedback thread to make their accuracy from 0.25 to 0.45-0.55 and slightly buff damage (from 70 to 75 maybe?). If anybody has other ways to make them useful at any stage of the game against any faction like Allied jets are, then I'll gladly listen.

Since conditions to get stolen tech were changed, maybe this may be an opportunity to bring back stolen infantry? This is how I see it: if you infiltrate just the lab, you will only get stolen infantry and if you in addition to that infiltrate CY, you will get a stolen vehicle as well. Thoughts?

I actually like the idea of bringing back Voltmortar as a Russia-only T3 infantry since they don't have their T3 infantry while China has Gyros and LC has Arsonists.
