Steps taken on Xubuntu:

echo 0 | sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope

As described in http://www.playonlin...atal_error.html

> Install dotnet30sp1 component

> Revert to 1.4.1

> Install dotnet35sp1 component

And it manages to run...

... but it freezes when a skirmish takes place.

Tried with different wine versions -  1.7.9, 1.6, 1.5.26. No dice.

EDIT: It's likely that's a error in my part since it also freezes on Yuri's.

EDIT 2: Found the culprit. I decided to install fglrx, ATI's propietary graphic drivers. I reverted back to OSS and it managed to run the game, although with a very nasty bug:

It's not impossible to play, just requires constantly moving the mouse in order to play the game.

Hope this information helps people trying to run their game on Linux / Mac. :)

Hey there guys,

I've been following this mod forever, but unfortunately I don't have Windows (or Mac btw) at the time, but I do have Xubuntu (Linux).

Basically the situation is:

I know my Linux system can run the game because I can run Red Alert 2, and Yuri's Revenge without problem.

The problem I have is with the Mental Omega Launcher, which upon clicking "Launch Mental Omega", I get this:

Since I know the game CAN play with ease, the problem lies in executing Syringe.  Could you give me a manual way to run Syringe..  Because it is appropriate, here is the log, which is quite brief.

Syringe.log

[20:42:25] Syringe 0.7.0.2

[20:42:25] ===============

[20:42:25] WinMain: lpCmdLine = "gamemo.exe -CD -LOG"
[20:45:12] WinMain: ERROR: No command line arguments given, exiting...
[20:45:12] WinMain: Exiting on failure.

Thank-you.. Can't wait to be able to play ; )

btw, I'm quite surprised more Linux users don't play MO

I'm using Xubuntu too.

I tried running the game with PlayOnLinux (Wine GUI) to avoid any messups.

> Created a new Virtual Hard Drive from scratch

> Using Wine 1.7.9 as suggested.

> Installed .NET 1.x, 2.x and 4.x

> Installed RA2 and YR. Runs properly.

> Installed MO 3.0.

> MOLauncher crashes.

The error is:

Signature -

Even Type: clr20r3

P1: molauncher.exe

P2: 1.0.0.0

...

P9: system.io.filenotfoundexception

And bunch of other data.

Tried all the troubleshot options and no dice.
