#1005003 SEE Dáin II Ironfoot

Posted by Lauri on 03 June 2015 - 07:14 PM

That reminds me, how will you handle his helmet? Headbutting with a helmet is silly, but Dáin looks cooler with his helmet on. Not sure I'd recommend headbutting as a power though, because of how it might look. I mean, what would it do, precisely?

Oh, and I trust you Maxim to make the headbutt look cool, which it doesn't do in the film. Hell, Dáins animations generally looked bad in the film. A prime example of CGI done bad.

EA made all uruks look like an orangutan, it's not like you have much of a choice. Have you ever complained about how Lurtz looks like an orangutan? Or are you satisfied with his animations? Though I can't stop you, I can only say again that it's not worth the effort. The hands could work, since they're a part of the body itself, but I'm pretty sure it will look very odd (though, in-game it might not be very noticeable).

The bone is separate from the rest of the skeleton, and is both positioned and rotated to a fixed spot, which is Lurtz' hand position. The sword will be in the correct position only when no rotations or positions have been altered in the ARM bone, which isn't necessarily often.

Trust me on this. Make him an orangutan. Or don't, and see the results yourselves. They do look comical at times :p

#1002338 Dale and its supporting role

We don't really know how Esgaroth (the new Laketown) looks, as it isn't shown in LotR. They did build it more durable, and used a lot more stone than wood this time around (they learned from Smaug, fire is bad). They did get a share of the treasure, after all, as they were a part of the Kingdom of Dale, if I recall correctly. Laketown had to be rebuilt at any rate, to keep on trading between the elves of Mirkwood and the men of Dorwinion, etc..

That's pretty good work. It does remind me of Pippin though, so the face could use some work, I'M ASSUMING YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT ALREADY.

Regarding trolls, I find these ones quite awesome. Too bad they died before we got to see them in action.

I also think that this picture sums up the movie quite nicely:

I remember a time where Max 7 and 8 were the only compatible versions.

I'm still not sure what I think. It's okay. Some awesome parts, some poor. I'm really hoping for good scenes in the EE cut.

The music in the Hobbit is inferior to LotR, but generally okay. A few of the recurring themes were out of place (like the Nazgul theme), while a few are lovely, like the Shire theme. For the new music, I quite enjoy the dwarven themes (Over Hill, My Armour is Iron, Sons of Durin) and Tauriel theme (Feast of Starlight, Beyond the Forest). The theme of Lake Town is nice too (Thrice Welcome). The songs sung in the films are good too, especially the "Down, down, down, in Goblin Town" from AUJ EE. Too bad it's not on the soundtrack..

Edit: And of course my favorite, The Last Goodbye, by Billy Boyd. It's only a credits song, and wouldn't fit in anywhere in the film, but it's still probably the best one.

I actually re-watched all the Video Blogs about a week ago (instead of prepping for an exam) and they're really great fun. I don't own any of the films, and won't buy anything until the EE Trilogy comes out(if ever.. probably), but I do look forward to all the behind-the-scenes stuff. I love it in LotR, and I've found myself on Youtube and watching clips from them quite a bit lately. Likely to avoid prepping for exams, but still, great fun.

EE made DoS better, and possibly AUJ aswell. Hopefully BotFA aswell. The clue is to add more scenes so that it takes longer between the bad parts!

The way Azog was presented in the movies seemed to be more 'schwarzenegger - terminator' than Tolkien style. I'm not sure why exactly, but I like the decision to not have to play him :D

Probably because he should be dead.

I like the subtle hint :p 3 days until the new trailer. Remember, keep the thread spoiler-free.

I think the left part of the face should stick more out. Right now it looks like a normal, healthy face with metal straps for no purpose. The metal should really hold the face together, since the face was split by an axe or something. At least, that's how I understand it.
