Yeah I downloaded tunnelbear and activated it and I still was incapable of connecting to my friend. Is there a list of vps that are preferable for my situation or just trying random ones the best method?

Hi, no worries about delay, still thankful for the help. Any work within the router will be probably be next to impossible, since i moved back into my universities housing system, I do not have direct entry to the router. I guess i can try a VPN if you think that will help.

If I need to port forward as it claims, and I am incapable of doing so, would a VPN or some other method allow for me to fix  the issue? 
Also, why would it be the case I am able to enter a game with some other players online but not my two friends? We have tried every combination possible, them two together, me and one of them, me and a different one of them, etc, and each time we get connection issues. But for some reason I am able to connect with other random players on the platform.

I found the new launchers, and I am able to join other peoples games. But, when me and my friends try to play we still get the probe response problem, or waiting to begin message that kicks us from getting the game going. Again, im able to join other peoples games, but not theirs. not sure what the issue is if anyone can help.

Let me just answer my own question so anyone else who sees this and has the same problem can have it solved. You must download the Gentool app. It is not just an add on, its necessary for server connection to work.
