I've got an old issue of PC Zone, which has one of the first previews of Generals and its got some wacky stuff - USA POW Camp which fired a demoralising cannon at enemy troops 
Plus it had info on the 3 USA Generals and some old, old units. If you want even more alpha/beta ideas then check out some of the early ingame footage (most of its available at www.planetcnc.com).
