To be honest, if you're really new to all of this, I would suggest you forget about trying to add a new faction and focus on something simple, like trying to give a hero a new leadership ability... if that works for you then progress onto something more challenging :D

In Topic: Question about the speed of the game!

I have an older machine on my LAN at home (1 of 6 pC's on the network). Its an AMD processor with an older 512mb GForce 7 and 2gb of RAM. It runs BFME1 on high settings with minimal lag when I play with a high command point limit. Frame does drop though when theres a ton of units/fx on screen...

BFME2 plays ok but the GFX card suffers a bit on high settings, and slows to a crawl with high numbers of units/fx. The machine also suffers from the evil blacked out textures problem etc. (probably because I havent updated the drivers in ages!). LoL.

Hey, i'm just wonderin' if it is possible to make the Rohan and Gondor AI place more units on their walls because whenever I play them they only have like a few bats of soldiers and archers and nothing on the walls...

Good question! :)

You need to play around with the base patrolling teams. Also, check out all of the scripts regarding base defense nodes - these are the actual positions that teams are sent to given certain conditions. Good faction castles happen to have a bunch of these nodes in and around the wall positions.

You could start out by increasing the number of battalions assigned to the base defense teams in your chosen faction, and work from there.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that certain scripts are only active on relevant difficulty levels. Make sure you're using the HARD ARMY teams and scripts if you want the maximum effect.

just copy paste and edit an existing team.
in the conditions just set it to what ever wave you want.

What he said! At least until you get a feel for things...

From the look of it, you've opened the wrong file. It should be (as in my above example) "ai_isengard.map" (or equivalent for other factions). It looks as though you've opened "ai_isengardskirmish.map" or "ai_isengardsps.map". All faction AI is inherited from the main "aifaction.map" file - if a file is inherited from another it will show up as a shortcut and will be uneditable (like the example in your picture).
