Political two dimensional test

03 July 2007 - 10:31 AM

Yeah i know that these tests are often way off, especially with these Agree/Disagree questions, but its quite fun anyway. The trick is that the result doesn't come in a left to right axis, but there is also a libertarian/authoritarian axis.

Here is an example of the axis:

Anyway, my results were:

Economic Left/Right: -6.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.56

Turkey invades Iraq

07 June 2007 - 01:18 PM

According to Turkish sources, hundreds of Turkish troops crossed into Iraqi Kurdistan on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning in hot pursuit of Kurdish terrorists. There was some skepticism about whether this incident actually occurred, and it was both affirmed and denied by various Turkish sources in the course of the day. MSNBC showed footage of the incursion, but I don't know if that was stock footage or if it showed today's events accurately (shouldn't they label these things?). A US military spokesman in Baghdad could not confirm the border incursion but said "we are very concerned." As well he should be.

I researched it more, and found that apparently Turkey has been massing troops along their border to Iraq.

The Associated Press
Thursday, May 31, 2007; 3:18 PM

ANKARA, Turkey -- Turkey's top general said Thursday his army _ which has been massing troops on the border with Iraq _ was prepared to attack separatist Kurdish guerrillas in a cross-border offensive.

Gen. Yasar Buyukanit said the military was ready and awaiting government orders for an incursion, putting pressure on the government to support an offensive that risks straining ties with the United States and Europe and raising tensions with Iraqi Kurds.

"As soldiers, we are ready," Buyukanit said at an international security conference in Istanbul.

So far noone really know what is going on, but if it indeed is a turkish force operating in the northern Iraq, the consequences could be quite serious.

Holocaust laws

22 April 2007 - 10:04 AM

Right now they are discussing about spreading laws against holocaust denial to all EU countries.

What do you think? Should all countries have laws against holocaust denial?

The solution to teenage pregnancy

13 April 2007 - 04:34 PM

French far-right presidential candidate Jean-Marie Le Pen told a women's forum Thursday he was against making condoms freely available in schools -- advising young people to masturbate instead.

"For those who feel the urge, I suggest the 'manu militari', it's a much simpler method," Le Pen told the gathering organised by Elle magazine in Paris, and attended by all the main candidates in turn.

Masturbation? Teenagers? Revolutionary!

(I apologise for the recent spam surge, and i take full responsibility)

Rabbits that glow in the dark

13 April 2007 - 04:15 PM

SCIENTISTS have created rabbits that glow in the dark.

Geneticists in France produced the bunnies by inserting a gene from a fluorescent jellyfish into a rabbit’s egg.

They are now selling the white bunnies to research laboratories.

Soon doctors will be able to use their genes to track the movement of cells throughout the body and monitor the success or failure of a transplant.

I wanted to post this in deep thought, but then again..

Btw, the article has no pictures :( I was disappointed.
