Arnis woke up, she thought she’d heard her name. “Arnis! Where is Arnis!” it was definitely Yrfuth calling her, no one else would ever wake her and no one else would just keep yelling someone’s name untill the person stands in front of them. Within a few seconds Arnis stood outside her tent and heard Yrfuth not far away. “Arnis!” “Ah, there you are.” Arnis decide to keep some distance, Yrfuth had a red face from the yelling and she could see the spit coming out of his mount. “We’re going to a tavern, I need a good meal, beer and a warm fire.” He was still talking very loud, but at least he wasn’t yelling anymore. “Sure” Arnis responded, she could use a good meal herself. “You’re staying here to watch over the men and wait for a messenger.” He couldn’t be serious, she was almost as high in rank as he was and she had to stay behind! “Excuse me!?” she responded, this time a little less calm. “Wow, easy there Arnis. I need someone to stay here, someone who can think and you can think Arnis.” Yrfuth said and he smiled, proud of his compliment. Arnis turned around. “Sometimes I think I’m the only one who can.” she said and after that more loudly: “Ye sure, I’ll stay here.” She said and walked away, back to her tent. Why does she always has to deal with the most stupid people, why can’t she go with Galthos to take care of that rebellion in the south. Galthos was smart she heard. She never met him, but he couldn’t be worse than Yrfuth, that would be simply impossible. While she was thinking she just kept walking and she noticed she had left the camp and was walking towards the bridge. She stopped and decided to get her sword before she would explore the surrounding area, she hasn’t got anything else to do, the two lower officers will take care of the troops. She walked back to her tent and saw someone standing in her tent, with one foot inside the tent and low to the ground looking for something. Arnis decided to watch what the person was looking for, before intervening/ She sat down on the ground not far from her tent, not visible when you’ve got your head inside a tent, but clearly visible when the person would walk away. A few seconds later the person stood up and stepped out of her tent, holding her sword. Arnis recognized the man, it was the soldier she met earlier, the soldier who scared away the animal, she couldn’t remember his name though. Arnis stood up and looked the soldier straight in the eyes. It scared the soldier and he dropped the sword, Arnis pulled it out of the grass. “I believe this is mine, what were you doing with my sword?” The soldier didn’t answer, he just stared at the sword. Arnis raised her sword and grabbed his shoulder. “What were you doing with my sword!” she repeated more loudly this time. The soldier fell down on his knees and then on his side. Arnis kneeled beside him, she couldn’t hear any breathing and yelled: “I need a wizard here, quick!” she dropped her sword and searched for other signs of life.
A few seconds later a few soldier surrounded her. “There aren’t any wizards, they all left for the tavern.” “Why is everyone to the tavern? Is there anyone else in the camp that can perform healing magic or something else? Isn’t there anyone who can help?” Arnis said, but without a wizard the soldier would probably die. An older man kneeled near Arnis. “What’s wrong with him?” he asked. Arnis looked at the man, he was a soldier that was clearly visible by a big scar on his face. “He isn’t breathing, that’s what wrong with him.” She said and stood up, to give the man some more room. “Oh, if that’s the case I don’t think I can do anything for him.” The man stood up and looked at Arnis. “I think he will remain dead without a wizard.” “Ok, get him out of here, give him a proper burial and send someone to tell Yrfuth.” Arnis said and walked away, away from the crowd. One of the captains quickly gave the orders and followed Arnis. “Would you mind telling me what happened?” he said while walking next to Arnis. “That depends on who you are.” Arnis looked at the captain before stepping into her tent. She grabbed her scabbard and stepped outside again. “I’m Atlean, I know that man’s brother very well.” “Well, Atlean I’ll tell you what happened, but I don’t want the whole camp to know so keep it for yourself. When I came back to my tent this man stood in my tent. I decided to wait and see what he wants. He came out holding my sword, I asked him what he wanted with it. He didn’t respond so I grabbed his shoulder and repeated the question. Then he just dropped dead. I’ve no idea what happened.” Atlean looked at Arnis and decided to believe the story. “That’s strange. What did he want with your sword?” “I’ve got no idea, it’s a very good sword, but I can’t think of anything else.” Arnis was ready with her sword and her outfit, she was ready to leave. “I was about to explore the surrounding terrain, care to join me?” “Yes sure, I’ll be back in a few minutes. We can talk some more about what happened.” Atlean turned around and walked away.
A few minutes later he returned with a two bags. “I brought some food, it’ll be enough for 3 days.” He gave Arnis one of the bags. “I don’t think we’ll be gone that long.” She said, but she didn’t want to be rude and took the bag. “I think we should start climbing that hill over there so we get a better overview of the terrain.” Arnis said and started to walk to a big hill not very far from the camp.
Due to a small misunderstanding my Lower Feranian assistant wrote the exact opposite letter of what he was supposed to write. I assume you know Lower Feranians are not as smart as us, the Higher race. He was not allowed to send a letter without first showing it to me, I don’t know what it was thinking, I apologize for this misunderstanding, I shouldn’t have given a Lower Feranian access to such important tools. To make things clear, Ferania is not interested in a senate and not in an alliance. Ferania does not need such things. We’ve survived on our own for many years and we see no need in changing the situation.
OOC: It’s highly recommended to take a quick look at the government update in my nation’s profile before reading this post.
Lagir, government halls; daily meeting “I would like to hear the progress on the expedition to The Crused Lands. What’s going there in the shadows Tárec?” Tarin Feroon said while standing up to reach for some documents.
“Well, uh, where should I start. There isn’t…”
“Just a summary please Tárec.” Tarin interrupted Tárec.
“Yes, of course. I don’t think we’ve passed the border yet. I think they haven’t crossed the bridge yet. I will send a messenger as soon as this meeting is over, I’ll ask for their progress and give them permission to cross the border in case they don’t know they already have that.”
“Ok, good Tárec, tell them to hurry I’m curious. As last subject on this meeting I would like to know since when Ferania has an alliance with the Nithilian Kingdom.” Tarin Feroon said calmly and sat down in the Head of Government chair. “I want to know when this happened, why this happened and most important what we are going to do about it.” Tarin looked at Lcor Lorma, minister of foreign affairs who she held responsible.
The ministers started to whisper and Lcor Lorma looked back at Tarin. He saw she was calm and decided to tell her the story. “It’s true and I know exactly what happened.” Lcor said and all eyes were directed at him.
“This all happened Thursday if I recall correctly.” Lcor proceeded. “I had some company and was having lunch when my assistant came in. He brought me a letter from the Nithilian Kingdom with the request to start a senate. We had a laugh about the idea and he understood there wasn’t going to be a senate so he went back to his chambers I presume.” The minister shifted position and proceeded with his story: “About 10 minutes later he walked in, threw the bowl of rolls out of the window and said something about quitting. Then he was gone and later I heard he had sent a messenger to the Nithilian Kingdom and that he had stolen some money. I’ve got a Higher Feranian assistant now and I’ve notified the guard captain.”
“And what exactly are you going to do now Lcor?” Tárec Ghul asked.
“This isn’t going to lead to war if you think that’s going to happen Tárec.” Lcor replied a little irritated. “I’m going to write the Nithilian king and explain the situation that Lower Feranians can’t think very well and this will not happen again in the future.” When saying that Lcor looked accusing at the few Lower Feranian spokesmen.
“I assume you’re going to take care of this little misunderstanding then.” Tarin spoke. “That’s all for today, good day everyone.” She stood up and after her everyone left the room.
Lcor stepped into his office and sat down on his chair. He opened the drawer and took a piece of paper. He started to write: Due to a small misunderstanding my Lower Feranian assistant wrote the exact opposite letter of what he was supposed to write.
He walked across the hall to his new assistant. “Hey you, stamp this, seal it and sent is to the Nithilian Kingdom.” He gave the letter and grabbed some coins out of the assistant's jar. "Done for today” he said “such a beautiful day, would be a waste to spend it inside doing government business don't you think?" he stepped out of the office on his way to the arena.
Ferania is interested in a senate, but wants to do even further; Ferania wants an alliance with the Nithilian Kingdom. This alliance would bring prosperity to both lands. The strong army of Ferania and the strong economical position of the Nithilian Kingom is a very strong combination. Ferania offers hereby to 500 000 soldiers on the piece of land on the north of the island to protect it from The Land of the Cursed and to help the Nithilian Kingdom colonize those lands.
This message is stamped with the official mark of Ferania and was sealed when the messenger delivered it.
