K, I just downloaded the latest version from MEV (I'm not sure if this is the latest version, but it was updated in September or something, so I think it's right) and when I started playing, the strings for the names of the Campaign mode, factions--everything new!--don't work, and I can't see any new maps in the list. ^_^ I have a LOT of user-made maps, but I checked every single playable one for the maps that are supposed to be BFME1.5 (that's my new name for these features) compatible.

Here is EXACTLY what I did:

NOTE: I used WinRAR
NOTE: I don't use my real username here for privacy reasons

1. Download RJ_RotWK.rar from MEV
2. Extract shortcut to Desktop (I run XP, so it should work properly)
3. Extract RJ_RotWK.big to C:\Documents and Settings\<MY USERNAME>\Application Data\My Lord of the Rings, the Rise of the Witch-king Files\
4. Download English.rar for the strings
5. Extract English.big to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Lord of the Rings, the Rise of the Witch-king\lang (rename original one English.bak)
6. Extract all txt files to a folder I made on my desktop called BFME Files, under Mods\ROTWK\RJ ROTWK
7. <SKIP AUDIO-VISUAL PROCEDURES CAUSE I DIDNT DO THEM>
8. Double-check shortcut, install directories, etc.
9. Run the Shortcut...
10. Smash my head against a wall when it doesn't work :)

Also, the campaign has fixed features, right? Well, mine would only let me play as Isengard, and I started with absolutely nothing except a few territories. Men (Player 2) started with the fellowship and a little army of Faramir and Ithilien Rangers, and noone else got anything. Because the STR file wouldn't let me see the description of the campaign in the WotR set-up menu, I couldn't see if there was anything I missed that I had to do to get the campaign working.

...Or is this the way the campaign is supposed to work? Anyway, any help is appreciated! I'm dying to play this! Help ASAP! K THX BAI!

Rise of the Valar Mod

This is the mod I started a week ago. It adds another faction (Valar) and completely re-works the others. Men becomes Anadune (Numenor), Elven unit list largely changed, Dwarves and Goblins...the same... :thumbsupsmiley: Isengard is now the White Council, and Angmar becomes Angband. Mordor remains as Saurons army, but with many changes. I am going to start this on my own, though it would help to have a modeler/skinner later on. The list of a few ideas I have in mind are as follows:

Alcarinque: Massive Radius healing spell
Anadune (Numenorian) Soldiers/Archers
Noldor Cavalry/Blademasters

Carcharoth
Curunir
Ecthelion
Gil-Galad
Feanor
Fingolfin
Finarfin
Glaurung
Drauglin
Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs
  • Valar:
  • Manwe
  • Aule
  • Ulmo
  • Varda
Valar will be summoned for 4000 resources each from a tower that the Valar faction can build for 10000. They are similar to heroes, but they start at level 10. They get all 5 power slots, and have an extremely high attack power. When they fall in battle, they will return to the Tower.

More ideas coming, I am scannng the index in the Silmarillion for ideas. And if there is another Valar Mod with this name, tell me and I'll change it. Please give me any ideas, comments, constructive critisizm, etc. that you see fit.

Adding the BFME2 Campaigns?

Anyone know how? I'm dying to play them again with some of the ROTWK only mods that would take years to transfer back to the original. :lol: (Arcade Edition) If anyone knows, please post.

Menu Buttons for Campaigns? ROTWK

I am adding the original BFME2 campaigns to my mod for ROTWK, and I am wondering how to do this. Can some genius here give me a step-by-step on how to add campaign menu buttons? I also need to know how to add the difficulty selection. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

I am having troubles with my mod. I also have a question that would help make my mod way neater.

That question is:
How do you make it so, let's say, Dunedain Rangers get to TOGGLE between their swords and bows instead of just close/long range?

Also, I'd like to know if anyone knows how to give new units the ability to level up... I can't get my new units to level up! I know there's something somewhere, I just can't find it.

I have one more question: I have made Morgoth a playable unit in my mod. He is a summoned unit that takes the place of Rain of Fire for Mordor. I'd like to know how to get him to actually summon when I tell him to. When I buy the power for him, and use it, nothing happens. This was the same for 3 other powers I made. The powers are:
1. Return of Morgoth (Spell Power, 25) (summons Morgoth, hero stronger than Sauron)
2. Ranger Ambush (Faramir's new ability) (summons 3 Ithilien Rangers)
3. Osgiliath Veterans (Boromir's Level 10 ability) (summons 2 Soldier Battallions, 2 Archer Bat.s, and 2 Tower Guard Bat.s)
4. Prince of Dol Amroth (Imrahil's level 10 ability in my mod) (summons 3 Dol Amroth Knight Battallions (both new units))

If anyone knows how to fix these problems, please post! It would help... <:)
