Start the game in -dev mode as described in my 1st post and hit

  • F5 = invisible selection circles
  • F6 = invisible all health and progress bars

to remove those elements and hit those keys again to get them back. It is described in the 1st post just read it properly please.

Good finds guys the model issues added to 1st post, thanks. The Eldar Harlequin is most certainly a texture issue. Eldar has plenty of tiny issues there. If you pick the Iyanden sheme [yellow] you see plenty green spots here and there if you look closely on various models, I'm still fixing those [example, bonesinger, banshee also some buildings]. If the green dot is there on every color sheme at the exact size it might be a model issue but I do not think so.

I thought it would be nice to share some nifty screencaps I think only the ones without UI do qualify. To be able to do that you start the game wiht the DEV exe command and put the autoexec I've added to this post in your Soulstorm main directory (extract it!). This autoexec gives you some special options like:

  • "shift+tab" makes taskbar and all elemets invisible, toggle-able
  • F1 = super slowmotion
  • F2 = slowmotion
  • F3 = regular gamespeed
  • F4 = super speed set to your liking carefuly heavy load on the PC the higher the value (set to 4000)
  • F5 = invisible selection circles, toggle-able
  • F6 = invisible all health and progress bars, toggle-able
  • F7 = cursor hide
  • F8 = cursor show
  • F9 = FOW -> Reveals/hides the map, toggle-able

I suggest you use the spoiler tags so the thread keeps some overview if it might grow that is you never know. To use the spoiler tages simply type

[spoiler]your text to be placed here or image in this case[/spoiler]

If we have some sweet caps I might, or whoever feels like it, convert them to loadingscreens for instance, or we share just for the fun of it.
Soulstorm is still a beauty with settings maxed-up. Without further yaddayadda here goes.

I understand the importance of codex but it can't be healthy to always check out each new rule and force it in a mod simply so its been up-to-date with new rules. If you think about it its not helping getting mods done. After all we are +10 years with this game.

 

Kinda off topic post, but meh I needed to type a few words about this new codex here and there issue, sorry that I'm not sorry :)

I was thinking we could use a thread to collect all those pesky issues tiny as they are but still bugging enough to be noticed each time you look at it. Since we now have implemented the bug-fix mod into unification fixing those model/animation issues would be most welcome too.
 
This thread is meant to collect all issues we are aware of related to Vanilla Races [Model+Animation]. If we have someone available wo actually CAN fix those, has a place to find what needs adressing.
 
Everyone can post what he thinks needs fixing and I add it here to the 1st post if we really are lucky and find someone with the skills and passion to get rid of those long-time buggers we all win. Feel free to add your findings I shall update this 1st post as mentioned, but please do a very brief description when the issue occurs so its clear and can be found easy.

  • Sisters of Battle
    • Repentia idle animation head snaps back into default position after animation cycle is finished
    • Brazier Weapon Canoness + Veteran Sisters. Aim point is far to low resulting in shooting at the bottom not middlle of target (Confessor is fine maybe C&P from him possible?)
    • Plasma Pistol Canoness aim point is far to high resulting in shooting over the aimed target
    • Veteran Superior is missing her chains to her rosarius. Could be copy & pasted from Celestian Veteran Superior.
  • Orks
    • shoota boy foot twitching at the shooting animation, reported by fuggles
    • Tank Busta idle animation ork bites in metal mask, bite depth should be adjusted, thanks to Norwegian_Loki for the reminder (not a priority we have a temp fix in the texture making the "issue parts" invisible)
  • Imperial Guard
    • Captain Aiming to low shooting at the bottom not middlle of target not so bad as Brazier still could use a fix
    • Soulstorm IG campaign general - if he has the plasma gun wargear, it will disappear when playing the animation "sp_talk". (reported by Kasrkin84)
    • Kasrkin fire the plasma gun animation does not fit to the weapon, minor
    • Ogryn's shoulder "clips" through his shirt when stretching arm. You can see it from his back shoulder when he does it, reported by Norwegian_Loki
  • Eldar
    • Avatar of Khaine never uses the sword slide down sync kill since Soulstorm (mdcertainty)

For this, thanks to Kekoulis for going through a lot of trouble to deliver and to Cosmocat as he helped on the Orks fixes. If you want to blame someone for the sloppy read me I am here for you since I just noted from a private conversation without much effort, still better then nothing :p

 

I do not have dow installed for now and its it up to you to check the folder structure for drag & drop installation.

Hmm new FX I wasn't aware of that :)

 

In general I think this is ovedone anyway [while it has purpose playing showing game effects/abilities]. I'll go the oposite way mostly by reduce it where I can, I love it when the texture can shine and in my opinion FX simply is something like HDR and bloom if its done to heavy its not my thing to enjoy, each his own though.

Yeah some bugs occur at strange places and its good to have some all AI simulated games for instance to check. Good you have a good clue about the issue we might fix that soonish.

The mod is kick-ass unfortunately some fine tuning is at hand when it comes to sound so I fancied to do some of that. Bear with me I'll explain in detail if you are interested.

  • I've adjusted only the "_default.rat" file to lower the volumes where needed, with some exceptions:
  • Some Techmarine sounds is far to low in volume, tuned up and reconverted to .fda again
  • There was no underfire voice playback I've fixed that. Took a couple of files from various units and adjusted those, created the needed files and now your fellow Templars say something to make you aware... always loved that feature stops you daydreaming :lol:
  • many voice files adjusted in volume to be more on one level output
  • plenty non voice files were missing the proper range setting. Means you hear them walking around but no Marine can be seen for instance. While my adjustments are not perfect [nor completely cover every file yet]  they are going in the right direction, try it out. One needs to add in the rat file the distance and the volume, in steps it gets reduced in volume as you move away from the audio-source quite nice to have that.
  • Many non voice files had to much "maxPolyphony" means eventhough the file audio output is okay it gets multiplied with more weapons around that are fireing using that sound. Values aroud max 1-5 are alright if you ask me depending on the file, but it can setup to any?! number. ~9 that's a killer for any consistent audio, my 2ct only feel free to disagree. Long talk I reduced the count in some files.

Splitup in two packages to chose from, for your convenience. simply browse to  BT mod folder "Data\sound" extract the files there before I recommend to a backup of the files if you wanna go back.

 

Download the voice adjustments only

Download the non-voice adjustments only

 

Interesting side note:

I'm sure you can NOT adjust the volume above 1.0 in the .rat file, you can but it has no effect. You CAN only lower the output. Means if the volume is to low in the file we are talking about you need to extract increase the volume "physically" and convert to .fda again no way around that.

For some reason I only got the Blood Ravens banner as flag displayed. Then I deleted the bt_banner.rsh file in the objective point ss mod and bingo all looks as it should be.

If you have the same issue simply remove/rename the "bt_banner.rsh"

 

I'm using the latest build in BT and objective point ss mod so thats not the issue. My guess is if an.rsh is not properly saved/compiled with the texture tool that matches exactly the folder path needed causes just this issue, good I did know that *wheww*

I think the disabled icons are a bit to bright and had difficulties to see fast if its active or inactive. I made an adjustment looks like below. Please note I only adjusted [included] the templar icons not icons that are linked to other vanilla races.

First off finally tried the mod a little and its pretty damn awesome. Thanks a lot jONES1979 for the hard work. As little extra thanks I plan to offer some tiny extras I'm working on right now one can use or ignore to ones liking.

 

Chaplain some more TC parts

  • Bone Mask and Chest bone now primary colourable
  • Knee caps secondary colourable
  • Shoulder Skulls trim colourable
