How can I clear the decks and reinstall everything, remove origin cache, generals registry etc?

If you've installed Gentool and the C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers, you should launch your game from the ordinary game shortcuts. You should also be able to launch from generals.exe in each of the two directories for Generals and Zero Hour. If not, you probably still have a problem with your installation or Origin.
Ok thanks - other than uninstalling origin, are there any other cache/registry files that need manually removing?
There may be a misunderstanding here. You'll need to have Origin installed (and the C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers applied) as well as Gentool but not the C&C:Online launcher.
Thanks. The ordinary shortcuts don't work, so I want to completely reinstall origin and c&c. Are there any additional cache/registry files that don't get removed during the uninstallation process that I need to manually delete?

You shouldn't be using the Online Launcher at all. Use only Gentool (as I posted above). Try that, then report back please.
Ok I've installed Gentool. How do run it using Gentool?
The executables in the Generals/ZH folder don't work as they're linked to Origin.

Uninstall BitDefender or similar Anti Virus. It is blocking GenTool for no reason.
Did you try that? Otherwise, your question is one for Origin support, I'm afraid. They should be much better able to answer that than we are.
I can't get Origin or the Launcher installer to find my Generals/ZH installation. I've edited the registry as suggested elsewhere but no luck. No change by Disabling Bit Defender, running as administrator, and changing the compatibility mode.
I've uninstalled & reinstalled Origin but that hasn't worked either (I can download but only keep installing, never play) - probably because there are lingering Origin/Generals files left over.
How can I completely remove all trace of Generals from my system, including any cache files? Then hopefully I can start absolutely from scratch by installing Origin once more...
