[Red Alert 3] Possible fix connection problems!

Best Answer ToxicShock, 27 October 2014 - 07:45 AM

Hello all,

Me and my friend were figuring out how we could fix the connection problems between us. It is about the connection failures ( 1-2 1-3 etc.)

Now how we fixed it:

It was very simple for me, Just type in your windows search: options.ini and you should look for the options.ini from the Red Alert 3 map. For me it was in: C:\Users\(name)\AppData\Roaming\Red Alert 3\Profiles\(Profilename)*
* I changed my name to (name) and my profilename to (profilename)
(For ultimate edition: Look for the Red Alert 3 one not for the Generals or Zero Hour!! )

If you found open this file (options.ini) Look for the line:

FirewallPortOverride: xxxx

Just delete it!!!

When I deleted this line my connection problems were gone. Simple as that.

I hope it helps for you too.

Yeah, that would be right. The Common Issues thread says the port 16000 fix does not work in RA3. Actually, I believe that it only works in CCG and ZH and that it should not be used in other games. We'll review that. Thank you for letting us know. Go to the full post

We would advice to setup it like this :

FirewallBehavior = 1
FirewallNeedToRefresh = FALSE
FirewallPortAllocationDelta = 0
FirewallPortOverride = 16000

It doesnt worked for you?

You have to delete the line FirewallPortOverride = 16000
This fixed my connection issues.

I tried this but it didn't work for me unfortunately. I have had games work in the past without making this change but only on about 2 occasions out of many failed attempts! I'm pretty sure it's the server issue they are working on resolving at the moment as I have tried everything I could. As soon as it is resolved I will make my donation ;) RA3 is my favourite game of all time... I'm angry at gamespy for shutting down their servers. Good on Revora though for trying to help everyone out; I think that is great.
