They upgrade if you use Zarkis add on. It is in the suggestions page a few pages back. Very good add on. You might want to get Dalmps pack as well.

Check reply 69. Doesn't for everybody. Including me.

Damn, so basically there no challenge on playing against AI if it dont upgrade ships.

BTW, isnt it possible to use same script for upgrading ships, that is used on station upgrading?

The final upgrade of the Dominator-class does have a different model. It reflects a more efficient use of space, therefore removing the domes from the hull. It should be a different model however.. The bridge should look a little different than the normal Imperial-class.

As for Force crush, you would have to ask PR that, I know next to nothing about XML.

That's funny...I remember building some Dominator IV-classes and they had gravity well generators. Though maybe I only built level Is...And it gets the new model at the Dominator III-class level, actually.

If I remember correctly, Force Crush stops the casting ground unit from moving, yes? So it wouldn't act any differently in space.

AI issue with Zarkis AI mod:

I am playing outer rim map with rebels and it seems AI dont seem to upgrade ships at all. I have been rushed with zillion ISD I's and Venator 1's and one Praetor, but thats it. I am on week 54 and it should have been enough time for AI to update ships for better versions. Oh, playing on medium difficulty.

I reinstalled the ai mod, but still same result.

Yeah, the AI never wants to upgrade anything, no matter what's done to it.

Tropical Bob: Force Crush stops MY ship from being able to move, after MY ship used the ability. I'm not sure that's intended.
Also, my Dominator IV model does not have the four gravity well generators.. don't know why that is, the .xml shows no use of any other model than the dominator one.

1. No upgrade of a ship should have a different model from the previous version of the ship, because the coding was all done with variants, and the model code line most likely was never repeated because it would be unnecessary work. It should look like an Imperial-class with an extra bridge sort of thing and four big gravity well generators on it.

2. That's what Force Crush does. It stops the unit from moving.

3. Any ability beyond the first two is cut off. Usually they're abilities that can be auto-used (i.e. tractor beam). You can toggle auto-use of abilities somewhere in the options.

There should be two bridge superstructures. If you see those, then it's right.

- Also, Ships with 3 special abilities are only showing 2.. so by pure chance one is always not useable (not even with hotkeys)

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but redundancy is good, right?
