The installer reads the registry key for the FoC install path at Software\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption\1.0. I assumed LA would keep this consistent between versions on all Windows machines, but we already found out that it's different for Steam... I have no clue about German copies. If that key doesn't exist, it defaults to $PROGRAMFILES\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption, the variable being a system-generic way of finding the Program Files directory. Regardless of all this, you can still pick the install directory manually. It should be your base FoC folder, not Data or Mods or anything else.

Could you provide the files without the installer? This way trouble shooting might be easier!

Has anybody got this to run properly on win7 64-bit with the German Gold Pack on DVD? I finally got it to run piecing all advice given here and in the other thread together, but now the gui is weird - everything is out of place, the minimap does not correspond with the main, and heroes are not displayed in the upper right corner (and more).

Okay, I think I know your problem. Instead of using the LA patch, use this one: http://empireatwar.f...ta_Patch;96810.
Think that should work.

I would report that this patch fixed the issue. I hope it works for anyone else that is having the same issues that I did.

Also, I would like to commend you and your team on the mod. It's beautiful and extremely fluid. LA should have designed the original game to this level. Bravo.

I also want to commend you for keeping an eye on the forums and helping those of us with issues. The effort is much appreciated.

Unfortunately we have gone through this error previously: http://forums.revora...260#entry892239

Try doing everything that user has, then get back to us...you may just have to acquire the Steam version like they did. There's just some very odd errors with the retail gold pack on Win 7 64 bit, it seems :(

Okay, I feel like I'm rehashing this, but I can't seem to resolve it on my end.

Gold Pack with no other mods installed, 64 bit patch installed on Windows 7 with 6 GB RAM. I've tried creating the XML file from the download that accompanies this release, but when I do it crashes right after. I get the same exception error as listed here. The interesting thing (maybe only to me) is that if I leave the XML file in the main FoC Data folder and have no XML in the mod Data folder, the Phoenix Rising logo will show and it will go to the loading screen before it crashes. If I apply the patch, with no XML in the main FoC Data folder and the downloaded XML in the mod Data folder, it crashes instantly, without even showing the logo screen. My file setup is correct per the screenshots listed here when I get the instant-crash.

Help?

Otherwise, I'm afraid that you just have to deal with it or get a better PC.

I agree; it shouldn't take 10 minutes to load on a modern PC.

my PR folders looks the same as yours save one thing the XML files are lower case and in your printscreen they are all caps, i dont know if this would have any effect but that is the only difference that i can see

edit: I have the gold edition if that makes any difference

Core Worlds is the best performing galactic conquest. Otherwise, I'm afraid that you just have to deal with it or get a better PC. I'd love to give you other options, but unless you want to edit all the units out of the galactic conquest maps (you'll need a .meg file extractor and a text editor to edit the galactic conquest files) you will get relatively low framerates in the galaxy map.
