Hello! First of all, I have read the how-to thread.

I've been working on this for a couple of hours now and I feel I'm out of options. I have the Origin Ultimate Collection, version 1.04. I'm running Win 7 x64 and I have GenTool_v7.0 installed (only Gentool, I don't have the CnC Online launcher).

I just got the game on Humble Bundle. I'm able to log in C&C Online, I can see the differente lobbies (1v1, 2v2, etc). If I join a game I can play with no issues. However, when I want to host a game, I get the "Lost connection to C&C Generals Zero Hour Online", and it throws me back to the main menu. The lost connection window appear just after clicking on Create Game.

Just out of curiosity, I logged in to CnC Online from CnC Generals, and I was able to host a game without any error messages. So apparently there's something wrong with ZH.

Things that I have tried:

1) tried every step on the Common Issues & Solutins thread

2) open the required ports on my router

3) added generals.exe to Windows Firewall

4) disables windows firewall as well as my router firewall

5) enabled DMZ

6) made sure that generals.exe is set to run as administrator and with Win XP SP3 compatibility

7) uninsalled/reinstalled gentool. Also uninstalled and reinstalled the whole game.

8) checked ZH's network configuration and it's ok: public and lan IP's are the same as my PC IP

9) also tried opening UDP port 16000, set it as firewall exception on ZH and also enabling the Send Delay option

I believe that's about all. It's really weird. A friend and I got it at the same time. We tried it yesterday and he was able to host right off the bat without any tinkering.

Any help will be appreciated!

Is this 100% ? Can you post your game nickname and a time from when this happened?

I just bought the humble bundle and installed fresh. I am unable to reproduce this bug. Where do you live?

I just tried uninstalling the whole game, I also erased the firewall exceptions and every single trace of the game. After a fresh install, I still have the same connection issue, though now I can look at the hosting screen for 3-4 seconds before a message pop ups in the lower right corner saying "you've been disconnected from the buddy list". Right after that, the lost connection to C&C online has been lost.

I suspect this is some error on Server side. The Client should be fine.

Do you think it could be related to my user? I'm going to ask my friend for his login info and try to login and host from my computer.

Yes. A strange error is getting thrown up at our end. It may be due to an illegal character somewhere. Please tell us how you get on when you use your friends log in information.

Don't make new accounts please.   It's against the forum rules here and may result in all of the accounts being banned.

Hi guys! I just tried the following: I gave my login info to my friend. He was able to log in and host a game without getting the disconnect message. Any thoughts about this?

Hi,

first thanks for asking your question with this extensive summary of what you have done!

There is an encoding/decoding problem with the string we receive from your game that contains 'ü' raising a problem with the unicode handling.

Just out of curiosity, could you and your friend press windows->'start', open 'cmd', type 'chcp', press enter and give us the output?

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."
