Initial Problem:

 

I bought Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour from Humble Bundle (Humble Origin Bundle 2).  I have downloaded/installed Origin then downloaded/installed C&C.

 

I am running Windows 7.

 

I wanted to play online with a friend and found the www.cnc-online.net website.

 

I registered an account at forums.revora.net.

 

I patched my game to the latest 1.04 version.

 

I downloaded GenTool from www.gentool.net (had to google for it as there was no link in the guide), and unzipped the d3d8.dll file, then copied it to the following paths:

D:\origin\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Command and Conquer Generals\

D:\origin\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\

 

I downloaded/installed C&C:Online Launcher Version 2.0.7 from www.cnc-online.net.

 

Next I loaded the launcher, and click Zero Hour.  I am presented with a popup alert that says Zero Hour installation not found.

 

Log file:

Attempted Solution #1:

 

I googled for the error I was having, and found the following:

I bought the games on Origin and the C&C:Online launcher keeps saying the installation cannot be found. Or: You can not login.

Solution 1 (Generals & Zero Hour):

1) Install the fixed launchers (applicable only if you have the Ultimate Collection via Origin) DOWNLOAD

2) Install GenTool (can be installed if you have Origin versions / retail versions)

3) Play without using the launcher.

Solution 3 (C&C3 & RA3): Go into Origin, click the game (in this case either C&C3 or RA3), click the "i" button to the left of "play", click "Game Properties" and check the box "Disable Origin in game for this game" and then launch RA3 or C&C3 via the normal C&C:Online method.

 

1) I did install via Origin, but I don't have the Ultimate Collection, so I skip the first step.

 

2) I have already installed GenTool

 

3) I play without the launcher, but I cannot connect to any server.

 

Solution 3 (C&C & RA3): I have disabled Origin in game for this game.

 

Not solved...

 

 

Attempted Solution #2:

 

Back to google, and I found this:

2) Install both Generals & Zero Hour via Origin (or via retail disc, remember to patch both games)

3) Install the fixed launchers (applicable only if you have the Ultimate Collection via Origin)

4) Install GenTool (can be installed if you have Origin versions / retail versions)

5) Run the C&C Online launcher, click on the "Hook" menu and select Generals & ZH

6) Launch Generals/Zero Hour via Origin / desktop shortcut 

7) Enabling the hook option in step 5 should now trigger the C&C Online launcher to open

8) Pick the game you want to play

9) Play!

 

I followed this guide, the only step I had not done is the Hook.  I opened the launcher, goto Hook > Generals & ZH.

 

Same issue.

 

 

Attempted Solution #3:

 

Back to google, and I found this:

It suggests to run either the Launcher or the game as administrator.

 

I went to C:\Program Files (x86)\Revora\CNCOnline\ then right click on cnconline.exe and select Run as Administrator. Same issue.

 

I went to D:\origin\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\ then right click on Generals.exe and select Run as Administrator. Same issue.

 

 

Other notes:

 

I am able to launch Generals, but not Zero Hour.

 

I am able to connect to an online game in Generals, but not Zero Hour.

 

Please let me know if I have missed anything.

 

Any help is very appreciated.

Most likely he is able to start Generals, but not the Zero Hour.

How did you patched the game? When I try, it says "missing or invalid registry/INI enty". But when i start the game without c&c online, it says the it is verion 1.04. Any fault i made?

Don't use CNC Online launcher. Uninstall and use GenTool instead.

I am having the same problem and have tried everything the OP has done and more......I am a huge generals and zero hour fan and i have been playing since it came out in 2003.....I really want to keep playing but nothing seems to work for me. No one is on generals anymore and thats the only one i can connect to.....Zero hour wont open from  the revora launcher.

Dont use the Revora launcher. Use GenTool only. Disable "Origin In Game" feature.

Confirmed steps of OP to work, but don't use Revora, launched with origin shortcut on desktop after installing gentool, played online, worked great.

Would love to see this work w/o GenTool.

GenTool wont let me zoom out super far due to antihack. 

 

I only play compstomp w/ friends & I play on an ultrawide monitor 21:9 so being constricted by the standard max zoom sucks!

 

Anyone have a non GenTool fix plz update!
