I HAVE READ THE HOW-TO THREAD

So basically I bought the Ultimate Collection on Origin a while ago, my friend now bought the new Humble Origin Bundle 2 and got Generals+Zero Hour with it (also Origin).

We both use Windows 7 Home Premium.

Everytime we try to play together via C&C Online, it first tells us "waiting for probe responce" and then it both kicked us out and said "cannot connect to other players".

We have really tried everything, none of these worked, we have tried to uninstall everything, reinstall everything (yes, the game itself too) with same results. The ONLY thing which we couldn't really do was to open the port 16000 UDP. For me that was no problem, for my friend however, that didn't work. We actually forwarded the port on his router webside, but it doesn't seem to work for him. Now, how can we fix this, or is the only fix forwarding the port? Firewall is not active, Hamachi uninstalled, I tried it with the Ultimate Collection Launcher (this thing) still, with no result or change whatsoever. I can't give you any more detail, as much as I want to, but that's basically it. All of this was actually no problem when playing with another friend who owns the Ultimate Collection. It worked with absolute no problem with him, no port forwarding needed, nothing of that, just start'n'play. But with the other friend, no chance.

Is that some kind of problem with the none-ultimate collection game, or were the servers just down? If not, any idea how to fix it other than port forwarding?

The log file isn't showing anything, as we weren't trying to play the last time I started the launcher. I'll try to give that one to you asap.

I also bought the bundle, so I have the game twice in my library. Will it help to reinstall it with the none-ultimate collection item in my library?

Help is appreciated!

My friend also just bought the bundle. Make sure that you are starting generals zero hour not from origin but make an icon on the desktop. Also make sure that gentool.net is installed. Make sure windows 7 is running it like windows xp service pack 3. There is also links on buying zero hour and origing. I also have my zero hour set to an exception in my fw settings also. Keep us posted .

By the sound of it your friend's router seems to block the incoming traffic. He needs to losen his firewall and ports a bit to make it work. Maybe even enable DMZ. Sometimes certain routers are just blocking too much.

The log file says:

----- C&C:Online Launcher Start -----
Game: Zero Hour
Zero Hour Install Path: D:\Games\Origin\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour\
Started game with: "generals.exe "
Caught CREATE_PROCESS_DEBUG_EVENT from Zero Hour. Detaching...
Found game.dat process. PID 8700
*** Starting hostname hooking routine ***

for some reason it SOMETIMES works when he opens the lobby. We could play 2 times when he opened the lobby. Mostly, when I open the lobby, he gets in it and he can play, I get the normal error. It is very confusing and also, it is not my pc, as it doesn't work with another pc of my lan network aswell.
Opening ports doesn't work on my friend's router atm, so we can't do that atm.
Maybe there is a way to play via direct connect? Or is that only for lan?
At all, C&C Online seems to be very confusing, sometimes it only starts when hooked (Ssleay32.dll problem), sometimes it won't start at all, sometimes it only starts when not hooked (if then hooked, I try to start it via origin and then it for some reason just stops at 100%, getting stuck for 10 secs, and closes after that). I kind of think that comes from the fact that i have 2 versions of the game in my library. It feels like that broke something.
Any more ideas on how to fix this?

You could uninstall the CNC Online launcher and use GenTool instead. Disable Origin In Game feature.
