Hi The Mercenary,
Thanks a lot for your interesting job.
So, I saw the different missions (the first two training missions plus 3 bonus missions), but I didn't see any differences about the abilities of the Commandos (the sapper was unable to use the knife for example). Is it normal and will you implement it later ? For me, using the knife is much more realisitic than using the fist...
About your problem, I'm sorry but I can't help you.

I think i can't let the Sapper use the knife, the problem is that he doesn't have the animations for it in the game files, and without the animations, the game will not be realistic.
I mean did you ever see someone kills someone else without doing any movement ?

Nice idea for a mod, hope it goes well
I noticed that in the screenshots that there is a day and night version of colditz, that might suggest that they originally planned a night and day variation of the map like they did with the night of the wolves / das boot silent killer map in the final game

If you checked the GLOBAL.STR of Commandos 2 Demo, the Beta name of the mission Colditz Castle was Escape From Colditz, that means that there was a mission that your mens was all catched in a jail and you have to escape, also if you look at the game files, you will notice that there was a suit called "Prisoner Cloth" around the game files. (GLOBAL.STR)
And there was also a Civilian suit. (See Attached Files) (The little icon is used in Commandos 2 Beta/Demo)
that might suggest that they originally planned a night and day variation of the map like they did with the night of the wolves / das boot silent killer map in the final game
Exactly !

Early version of the Das boot map:
Compared to the final map:

WTF, WHERE DID YOU FOUND THAT AWESOME-FUCKED-THINK !!!????
Edit: Lol, nope it's not the beta map, that is so much beautiful than all the Commandos 2 Universe.
Beta Das Boot is like this:
The only thing that they changed is the building in this picture: (Down-Left)
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
In the beta there are 3 of this building, but now, there are only 2. (And Obviously the Canons)
And also the big garages of the destroyable building can be opened.

Well it could be even earlier than that, i found the screenshots from here: https://sites.google...andosmod/random
Also i've found this video of the alpha/beta/prerelease or whatever you want to call it version with the removed interface being played here, the video is from 07.06.2000, over a year before the game was released:
And another:
And another that is reminiscent of the C2Demo, but has more maps:
Theres also a few more on youtube if you search "commandos 2 gamestar", or heres there actual website http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/commandos-2-men-of-courage/37177.html
Gamestar reviewed all the commandos games before they came out it seems and have videos and screens of them
Also they were planning on making the game for the Sega Dreamcast console too but it got cancelled, most likely because it was around the point when they stopped making games for the dreamcast, that could be where those early console screenshots are actually from

Wow, Nice finds !
About the Dreamcast, yes i know about it.
And perhaps you are right about Beta Das Boot, because the place that is in the final picture that i post, is almost the same place in the south of Beta Das Boot. (The soldier with the Machine Gun is almost in the same position, and also there is the same canon)
You are totally 200% certainly right about Beta Das Boot, proof:
Theses two guys + The truck + The Officers
There is a troop of soldiers between the destroyable building and the building where there is the submarine. (I remembre that i saw that troop in a screenshot with the sniper)
Also, did you notice something ? the sounds are like Commandos 1 sounds, also all levels use the same music wich is found on the game files, and the Commandos has no voice lines yet.
If you translate the video into English, you will read interesting things: "Twelve missions was planned and a backstory mission." and "Tanks can be destroyed with other Tanks, Bazookas, Mines and Flamethrower.
Ahhh, thats why the table on that house has no collision. (Stop the first video at 0:46)

Yes the death sound was from commandos 1, also the music isn't part of the game its being played in the background i think because it's continuous through all the levels
12 missions? well there was 12 in the final too if you count the training missions, maybe they meant that or could be the night version of colditz etc, and backstory mission could be referring to the bonus missions? Can't be sure though
Also "That the statue of Burma was with no entrance ?" I am pretty sure it was like that on the PS2 version, but can't remember too well as I haven't played that version in years, the most i remember from that version was that there was about 70 tutorials for just learning the controls

The music and sounds still in the game files.
If you didn't notice, the loading backgrounds are taken from the real Beta map, example: check Burma's loading background and you will see that the statue has no entrence.
I think i will cancel this project and i will replace it with Commandos 2++ .
This mod will fix and improve commandos 2 a lot and will add some unused features into it.
BTW, i have downloaded Commandos 2 PS2, and the only tool that works for it is DeBSMB.
When i opened the Global.dat, i found that there is also some Xbox notifications before it was realised.

talking abut beta version.. you can find the "old version of the faces of commandos"
simply : on "COMM2.CFG" in "Output" directory
CARAS3D 1 to 0
Posted 26 August 2015 - 04:27 PM
BEL Commandos Faces, i name them.
I like them better than the 3D one.
I always choose them.
BTW, Green Beret's face didn't change (Nothing different), but the other commandos they changed i little bit.
The sniper ears is like the ones of an Elf.

Overhead map of beta version of saving private smith (Can be found in C2DEMO), as you can see there are a quite a lot of differences, thanks to mercenary for telling me this
http://s23.postimg.o...z6jvnor/0_3.png
You can see these differences in this video:

Good work for that finding, how do you get that air camera image??
Posted 30 August 2015 - 08:26 PM
Good work for that finding, how do you get that air camera image??
Can only be done in the C2DEMO, start the level, and type gonzoopera for cheats, then press alt+up or alt+down.
You can also find it if you extract the ry.y64 in the demo.
Notable differences are:
There is a tiger tank at the north
There is a 8.8cm gun in the hole next to the building with the allies
The building with the allies is slightly different
There is a crater on the west road
The bridge could be blown
The building the other side of the bridge has a hole in the roof
There is no wire fences next to the river
No trees/bushes

mateeeeee
If someone has found another change, i will name him Sherlock Commando.
Glue: Child Park
BTW, there are other changes than cannot be seen in that map:
A lot of different doors.
There is no little entrance for the thief for the sniper's house.
Green Beret's house have another balconie.
Check my topic for screenshots.
