Is it possible that we could do something similar for a shellmap in THL? We could possibly do it with the Dwarves marching. I need some mapper's advice :p.

Volume maps, I know how to make them and how to apply them,they will get the colours correct. They are a type if look up table for colours that is applied to the whole map, it should work for the shell map.

A painted background will reduce load time, which is always an issue for me.

A coder can figure out the marching thing.

P. S. Have the Dwarves move right to left.

Is it possible to use an existing skybox? If not I'll make a painted background. And I can make the codes for the marching no problem.

Yeah, you know what you want so if you get the background you want it'll be good. I don't have time to do anything but lay in bed and be sick but the volume maps are in terrain or compiled textures and are basically a lot of layers in a dds file. Mirkwood has a desaturated one, that might work. They are applied in Worldbuilder, from edit I think.

Take a look at the CaH background, that one is a bit more advanced than a skybox.

However I do believe that is a Flash animation, so ...

I think you can do this in BFME but you would need to do it with that things you use for flags, some sort of GIFs.
