Hi people,

I've just updated OS to Win 10 on my laptop. Since then, C2 executive file (comm2.exe) has stopped working eventhose I tried to run the app in many of compatibility modes. Please help me out :D

Note: I did

- Installed DirectX Run-time (directx_Jun2010_redist.exe) from Intel site to set compatibility modes back to Windows 95 -> Not help

- Updated the last driver of graphic adapter / Intel Graphic 4400 -> Not help

My laptop : Yoga 2 Pro / OS: W10 / Graphic: Intel Graphic 4400 -> Run fine with DP 1.41 on Win 8.1 previously time.

Don't use compatibility mode for Windows 95. In fact, Commandos 2 should run without any issue on Windows 10. Run the game as administrator.

You may have to reenable the SafeDisc driver if you're using the CD version. Place secdrv.sys to C:\Windows\system32\drivers (you can probably find it on the net) and follow this procedure: https://support.micr...n-us/kb/3086255

Thanks Plokite_Wolf,

My file is downloaded as 03 Iso ones, then I un-zipped them into a folder and install without any of error.

I did try as you said but the app still failed as shown

I set to run C2 (DP) as administrator / and in Win 10 mode only

After troubleshoting, Win 10 answered that

Oh, I have the idea that, come back to OS 8.1 :(

Thats strange, C2/DP worked fine for me in Win10, it was only C3 that gave me problems. What version of C2 you using? if you are using 1.00 straight from the CD, patch it to 1.20, because there is some drm/cd check in the 1.00 exe that seems to not function properly on newer versions of windows, but the 1.20 exe fixes that

Also try turning off uac and try without "run as administrator" option, i hear theres problems with admin rights in windows 10 for some apps

I did download a set of 03 iso files from shared online storage site the install, and when I open the Readme file that shown "Commandos 2: Men of Courage / README file 09/06/2001 Version 1.1"

Or you could help for the better install? Thanks

Right try uninstalling DP and uninstalling C2

Install C2 again

Next install the 1.20 patch: http://commandoshq.n...PatchRepack.exe

Then run commandos 2 and see if it works.

If it works then try installing DP 1.42 on top of the pactched commandos 2.

If not then my only suggestion would to be to get the GOG version of C2 as that version works on Windows 10 (atleast for me)

Maybe try downloading the GOG version of C2 instead of the CD version, that is already patched to 1.20 and has a few fixes I think. The gog version is what I use and can confirm it works fine on Windows 10 atleast for me.

OK Robb,

I will try, but later on because in my country now 4 AM, and I have to go to work at 8 AM.

Now I am to sleep with dream that it could fixed.

Thanks you and all :D and regards !!!!!

Commandos 2 is fine with Windows 10, i think you just need to install the international patch then run comm2.exe in XP compatibility mode + Admin.

At which point the crash appears. were you doing anything in specific - shooting, running for cover? Old games have habit of glitching for whatever the hell they want. Take modern hardware for an excuse, GOG feels pretty solid if you run latest Windows versions.

when i successfully finishing 15 mission in main screen and pressing Next Mission, Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error appears. If i am trying play NEW GAME, ENTER MISSION PASSWORD, after entering code and press enter Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error appears too.

I remember having troubles with commandos 2 running in windows 10, I followed an online guide that said I needed to enable DirectPlay which fixed it for me, so you should try enabling it, if you don't know how you can watch this guide:

Also yyou should upgrade to 1.2 using the international patch if you are playing it from the DVD/CD, unless you are using the gog/steam versions which are already patched to 1.2. Because 1.0 refuses to run on Win10 because it has some DRM that doesn't work in Windows 10. (unless you use a no cd crack)

I would follow SirRH's advice. Looks like another ''wrong file privileges'' error, known Win10 thing with games released prior 2007.

There are many exes. Note: the 1.20 patch (IntC2Patch_SOp.exe) is a exe distributed in 2003 obviously not prepared for modern windows. That exe size is: 9.069.317 bytes.

The exe that works on windows 10 is a exe from the dotemu version (dotemu no longer sell games), prepared for windows 7. But works ok on windows 10.

This exe size is: 8.192.056 bytes.

I have many exes version (original cd, commandos complete), but this from dotemu works. Note: dotemu sold the game for download in 5 languages: spanish, english, french, italian, german, for support until windows 7.

Here you can download the exe (that is common for all the languages):

mega.nz/#!PA...j7nhdF6uTG_9W5Q

Note: I checked this exe with the exe that comes from gog version and is the same exe.

I compared the exe from dotemu and is the same present in InternationalPatchRepack.exe, thus I remove the link.

About the exe for bel, here is:

That version from dotemu is the same that present in gog, except that gog distributes the exe with the german patch applied (a few bytes, for run the game if your windows country is germany).

The original file name is comandos.exe.
If you run this, it says that you need DirectX5. Rename the file to commandos.exe and will run ok.

Salvadorc17. The steam legacy exe is the same that distributes gog. The dotemu version is the same except that not have the patch for run from german windows. See this compare output.
