Steam

When I host a game, no player is able to join me. Apparently my game doesn't show in lobby when I host it. It really sucks because sometimes I don't get to play the maps or I struggle big time to get any games. I'm fully able to connect to others games and I con with 99% of the playerbase. Just this issue has been bothering me for a while.

Weird, this sound like a variant of a bug I've known about for a a while but I'm not sure what's causing it.

When that happens try to relogin with another nick of yours and see if people can join, then login with your previous account and it might work again.

Does your hosted game show up on the website?

For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

It shows on cnc-online, but I don't think people can join.

Then after when I created the game lobby, I exit it because no one can connect - thing is then I can't join others lobbies. It bugs out and sometimes goes to the blank screen below. I then have the click the home tab and go back to custom match. So to make sure (double check) no on can connect, I setup a redzone game. Went to create a redzone 2v2 unranked game, selected it and it setup a ranked 1v1 on winter meltdown instead of going to unranked and settings the game name to 2v2. I have these issues most times when I play.

In addition, when joining games sometimes the map doesn't update when the other player picks a different map to that which the lobby was hosted with. Sometimes it doesn't show the map thumbnail or even the map name.

Okay I've definitely not seen this before. You do have a stable connection?

Yeah, it used to work fine. Apart from the occasional friends list issue. So currently I have about 5 people on the list in the hopes it doesn't bug.

Apart from my router playing up, occasionally disconnecting I have a stable connection. The disconnecting is unrelated to these issues though. When I disconnect, I just lose connection to cnc-online and it DC's me in game. There's been no correlation that I found.

E: I've got a vague memory of hosting games on a separate nickname and it worked. But then at that time it DC'ed me after every game. For whatever reason that stopped.

So did you try what I suggested above?

Next time this happens, please write down the exact date and time, including seconds if you can, so we can track it down in the logfile and analyse what the server was doing.

I am pretty sure that that is a quality of service issue. I suggest taking all of the usual steps to improve the quality of your connection (there is no harm in doing that anyway). That would include keeping mains electrical cables away from the incoming internet (telephone) cables to the modem and looking for processes that might be using your bandwidth. Try disabling your firewall temporarily to see if that improves things.

We will look in the log anyway.

I went on a separate nick, it has about 10 games, then the exact time being 6:37:29 PM, that's when my I needed to go to home then custom games again. After that I needed to create a game, then exit it so that I could join someones else's game (that's how I fix it). At this time, I look at derand, he's in lobby but his game is still being hosted.

I then asked Angele (a nice player online) to join my game. She was unable to - said it was a bug. I then joined her game and the map didn't update, it was black. That's at 6:44:26 PM. Thing is I'm able to join her games and play whenever, with whatever faction. It's just the map bugs out.

Here's my latest log too.

The first login starts at 2016-09-27 19:27:46+0200. I couldn't see anything wrong there.

Okay, it's been months and I discovered that the issue is only on one laptop. It's my custom 970m one. It used to work with hosting games, could it be a driver issue? On my other older laptop I can host games. I've now tried it on 5 different wifi connections, my older laptop is able to host games. The newer one can't.
