I get this with everything regardless of unification, it appears for every unit. You can tell what has been built by it - the units still use the ability. It's an AI mod problem, or a steam problems. Ignore it.

Yes but... I have some frame "flickering" issues when it happens.

Meaning that if you "stand" (camera) above the HQ of the race that has issues, the framerate drops !!!

Does it drop because of the amount of messages? Are they warning ones or is there some wrong behaviour using abilities?

Can the messages -assume they are console based- be filtered somehow?

Hmm... I need to test further. Once I saw the messages (never encountered them before), I asked for assistance.

Are they warning ones or is there some wrong behaviour using abilities?

Fuggles says there is no issues using the abilities, but I will have to test... further?

Can the messages -assume they are console based- be filtered somehow?

Nope.

They appear randomly ! :whatoa:

For example, I tried to use Dark Angels ONLY with the "new" Unification, and gave NO ability warnings. Then I added SL (and made NO other changes to the game I set), and the warnings for DA abilities were there!!!

OK, ignore.

Fuggles was right, it was nothing after all... Just insignificant AI warnings of no consequence - the abilities are STILL working for the AI.

Now I am having a different issue... BIG battles (many armies, especially if having Witch Hunters in them) have Mem issues - they hang.

Anyone knows if the >2Gb limit is fixed in Steam version?

OR we will have to fix it ourselves?

UPDATE

Do not ignore the AI issues, as.... Advanced DoW AI crashes the game :thumbsdownsmiley:

Even with a SINGLE Space Marine enemy, the game CTD within minutes.

Summarising:

STEAM Unification Issues

- DoW AI will NOT work. Thus... AI WILL NOT work in general.

- Using more than 2 WH armies (or loading many High-textures armies as I see it), will CTD before even reach in-game.

Damn.

For the 1st, we can play with HUMAN player only :thumbsdownsmiley:

For the 2nd... We will have to resort to the >2Gbs solution.

Thoughts?

Yes, this is why dark angels salamanders s indersirably designed and why GK should be separate. Whatever you do I think you are going to hit memory walls, the 2gb things is not a perfect solution. I can run 1v1 random Vs random though using all races, so I'm content.

Does unification have ai? Odd that it's breaking as it should be standardised.

Well, I just tested the NTCore fix on the official steam soulstorm.exe, and the mem issues VANISHED!!! :xcahik_:

This fix is a MUST for ALL latest mods, so I think it will be OK to have it as a prerequisite.

And man, it is a VERY good solution. Nigh perfect, in what it provides.

Whatever crashes are now because of the AI (or because you have 8 WH races simultaneously in a HUGE map - otherwise I tested it for 2:30 with 6 WHs and had no issue)

Does unification have ai? Odd that it's breaking as it should be standardised.

The Bugfix has the dowai imported. And all the custom races use the advanced function calls of DoWAI, so we cannot skip this.

Unification has some Core additions and some AI update fixes.

So consider the MEM issue fixed :xcahik_:

I will now see if I can do something with the AI crashes. I think I know what's wrong. :cool2:

Anyway, ETA for the "Steam" version, this weekend. anyone interested, we can join and play in Steam.

My STEAM account name is Gambit_DoW ... obviously!

Reminder that NTCore modified soulstorm.exe was deprecated by the Large Awareness Patch, at least for UA mod releases which are expected to be Steam compatible

Why should we use this if we have used Ntcore.exe before? Is it better?

The NTCore 2.0 exe is from now on considered deprecated by the UA Mod Team. The reason for that is fairly simple:

Everytime SEGA updates Soulstorm (Which shouldn't be frequently but still) the creator of the NTCore has to make a new version of the Soulstorm.exe or you'll basically downgrade your sousltorm.exe everytime you install NTCore 2.0

The LAA Patach on the other hand does not completely replace your EXE but just applies the large adress flag. So everytime Soulstorm gets an update you only have to reapply the LAA Patch which preserves the build, instead of downgrading everything.

Also because of that "downgrade" thing the NTCore EXE is INCOMPATIBLE to the LAA Patched one.

Thus from now on to preserve consistancy we highly recommend you using the LAA Patch instead of the NTCore EXE.

If you have previously used NT Core 2.0, please use the verify game cache on steam to refresh your files and apply the LAA Patch then. Do not apply the LAA Patch over the NTCore EXE or you'll only patch a downgraded EXE and you won't be able to see multiplayer lobbies of properly patched games.

I am still running a pre-Steam toaster by today's standards, so I am only available in whichever vLAN works (Hamachi?, Tuungle?) with no 4GB patch, just in case somebody want to play someday. But I suck playing online. I will join the bandwagon some day in the far future.

How can AI crashes be tracked efficiently? I tried that feaure of aitrace but only gives some clues

It can't. Repeat testing and seeing what is on the field when it hangs.

As fuggles said. Some coding experience (low-level) is required of course.

Thank God I have that :p so... I FIXED THE AI ISSUE AS WELL!!!

All issues remedied. We no longer have crashes, AND we DO have AI :xcahik_:

Phew.

FULL version will be ready soon.

Please add me as a friend is Steam, so that we can have some games. My brother and a close friend also bought the game, so we are 3 already. (I have my first two testing lab-rats :tongevil: )

AND THANKS for the LAA method of enabling the >2GB man!

Why does it affect Steam version and not the DVD one? do you suggest an upgrade for WG mod?

No, it was an AI issue affecting both versions. It was something that I was responsible. There is no experience to be had by this, really...

I just messed up by speeding the creation of the Steam version!

So does that mean 1.26 of 4egular unification still has ai issues they were fixed in the steam version? Just curious as I did find a few differences. Such as the Necron scar file.

Sorry for double post & mistype on phone & no idea how to delete a post. My apologies. If this is the appropriate place I'll have to join as interested in communication with Gambit & others regarding various mods. Thanks for all your great work!
