How do i connect to the backend servers on windows 8.1, i switch laptop from 10 to 8.1 and the patch i used before doesnt work on 8.1 it actually makes game crash and it wont load it gives me error “need to have direct x9 or higher or make sure your gpu meets the requirements or high something enable”

I downloaded it from steam and it works fine but doesnt connect to backend server, i download the patch that worked for my windows 10 laptop and then it doesnt start and gives me that error message, i try to delete and it wont let me delete the patch so cant even open either game, need serious help please...

What error message did you get when you tried to install the patch we discussed in our PM?

After the patch is install when i try to open game it givw me

Please make sure you have direct x 9 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements, and that you do not have hardware acceleration disabled in display control panel,

The game once I installed it i tried it like campaign and stuff worked run fine, then i tried online said I couldn’t connect to the backend server, so I downloaded the same patch as the time before and then get that error every time i try to open it. For both TW/KW.

But you don't get an error while you're installing the patch?   I am just wondering if an anti-virus program is preventing that.       The file the patch inserts is a direct X file but direct X does not normally put it in that directory.      

 

Can you tell me the size of the file d3d9.dll in 

Command Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars/RetailExe/1.09 for TW

Command Conquer 3 Kanes Wrath/RetailExe/1.02 for KW

For tw 1.9 is 79kb
And for kw is empty

The kw I reinstalled it the problem is gone but now can connect to backend servers im not going to download patch again as it will give me that problem again

So i redownloaded tw and its giving me the same error as before from the post

Can you try installing your graphics drivers again?

I did twice from scratch and still same problem, i was think to do a recovery to before the patches since i cant delete them and ask you is there another way to get on the servers?

Hey toxic, what problem do you think it is ?

The patch I gave you and direct X use a file with the same name and I think your AV is stopping the installer inserting the correct file in the case of KW. I suggest that you reinstall your graphics drivers (to replace the direct X files) and then we can manually insert the patch (d3d9.dll) files.

toxic I have done this

 too my av off and redownloaded the drivers/ and launchers and patch and get same error.

then I tried to launch from launcher and same issue. I delete the d3 file from the steamapp folder and then the games playable but cant connect to servers.

 

what else can I try? can it be the steam version/ or 8.1/ or should I buy from origins ?

I appreciate your patience with me. last time the enablers helped me and there was never this issue

Hello toxic I download on another laptop same issue with the patch and this one is running windows 7 and get the direct x issue
