[RA3] Registery is corrupt and has been altered

Best Answer Guest_protoman1008_* , 17 January 2018 - 12:00 PM

First of all, My apologize for the late response.

Regarding the "Registry is corrupt and has been altered" error could have something to do with missing information(License Key) @ Registry Editor.

Did you still have the same issue after a re-installation of the game through Origin?

If so, can you please check the registry if the subfolder "ergc" exists.

ergc subfolder basically holds the license key information.

Please open your Registry Editor: Windows Key + R, then type in "regedit"(without quotes).

Then go to

(64 bit system) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Red Alert 3

(32 bit system) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Red Alert 3

It should look as follows: http://prntscr.com/i1n98h

If not, please make a new key in red alert 3 and name it "ergc"(without quotes). (Right click on red alert 3 folder, then New > Key)

Then, edit (Default) by double clicking on the value, else right click and select "Modify" as shown above. Remember, the license key must be filled in without dashes(-).

The License Key of Red Alert 3 can be found in the Origin Client. (Don't post the license key in here though :p)

Regarding the C&C: Online launcher issue, please double check the compatibility tab on the C&C: Online Launcher exe or shortcut.

Make sure this is set on Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Run as Administrator.

If no change at all, disable Compatibility Mode but do leave Run as Administrator on.

The result should be as follows: http://prntscr.com/i1ne8i

If this solution didn't help for the launcher, there's another method we could try.

Let us know if this has solved the issue.

No worries about slow reply, I am just happy to get a reply :)

There wasn't a Key in the registry so i have added one, confirmed with my own computer that i had done it right.

Unfortunately that didn't work.

However i did see a difference in the Red Alert Folder between hers and my computer : https://prntscr.com/i1vexk

I dont know if it has any meaning to our problem so i have taken a screen shot of hers and mine (the blacked out on her screenshot seems to be the gaming key in hex? Unsure so blocked it out to be safe.)

Regarding your other solution, i had done that already after reading it from another post on the forum

Hm... I'll have a look into this, to see there's any other options.

Just bizarre why there's a difference between both computers, a certain logic I don't get.

I assume you are both using a stand-alone RA3 game, and not the Ultimate Collection?

I did noticed the Registry path between the two of you differs. o.o

In worst case I have Red Alert 3 on Origin as well next to Steam, in theory I could try stuff out to see where the problem comes from.

When it comes to the launcher, I'd suggest we'll find a fix for this Registry problem first before moving to the next step since I'm not 100% sure yet if it could be related with an issue with the game or the launcher itself.

I'll let you know when I know more about this Registry issue.

Update

Scratch the below removed described stuff, I've replicated the issue. It's from the looks of this something with Origin, though I have had 0 problems with the Steam version. </3
Currently looking into this to see if there's a silly oversight somewhere.
I'll let you know when we know more about this.

Update 2:

Problem solved.
You most likely made the folder in the wrong location.
The correct path is: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\electronic arts\electronic arts\Red Alert 3\ergc (Retail/Standalone copy users, make sure you've accessed electronic arts key twice)
In the screenshot, the path seems to be: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\Red Alert 3\ergc <- Wrong path, remove this and place the key and product key info in the path described above. That should do the trick. At least it did in my case.
If the problem is still there there's one last alternative.

Let me know if this is the fix.

OP responded, and has been confirmed this is the fix.

I can't find The License Key to Red Alert 3 on Origin. So i don't know what to write in the "(Default)". I have tried to make this work for days, can you please help?

Go to My Game Library.

Then, right click on the Red Alert 3 game and choose Game Properties.

The CD Key is right there. ^-^

That may have to do with hooking.

Please make you first hook Red Alert 3 in the launcher.

Then close the launcher and start Red Alert 3 by shortcut.

To the left click on Red Alert 3 button to the left and you're all set.

Make sure the Registry Key path is correct.

I assume you're a 64-bit user.

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\electronic arts\electronic arts\Red Alert 3\ergc

- When I launch my game using the C&C:Online launcher, I get the following error: "CA public key patching routine failed"
Solution: Try setting the launcher to Windows XP compatibility mode.

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\Red Alert 3\ergc

keep reading Registry is corrupt and has been altered, changing the key in the ergc folder folder but nothing changes
