I don't have the game so I don't know if it works or not but I found this on GOG :

"For the ones that have already boughhtit: there is talk taht you may be able to turn censorship off. I don't know, if that really works. You may wanna try:

1.) Go into Users\YOURCOMPUTERNAMEHERE\AppData\LocalLow\Kalypso Media Group GmbH\Commandos 2 HD Remaster

2.) Open COMM2.CFG with a text editor and change NOVIOLETAS from 0 to 1"

If somebody who bought the game could say if it works or not...

I made the first mod to Commandos HD Remastered files. I edited the briefing and cinematics file at the beginning and during the missions.

Every dialogue appears with a smaller and better zoom and without frenzy. Soon I will share something...

So, any update?

Even though in theory the Unity engine is a super flexible and accessible platform for developing games from scratch, and therefore maybe modding existing ones, in this case I just don't think it's worth the effort. Commandos 2 and other games in the genre are meant to be played from bird's eye view, and from that distance it doesn't really matter if you look at a 64x64 texture stretched onto a 200 poly model or a 512x512 texture on a 700 poly one. An ingame man is barely a centimeter on the display, you normally wouldn't even notice the difference. Surely the new water and weather effects are easy on the eye, but the original ones look toally fine as well, and because the developers didn't delivered a quality retouch on the level bmp files, the contrast to the rest of the elements is tremendous. If you consider the numerous bugs and glitches, the removal of functions, and most importantly, the complete removal of the cooperative multiplayer, I simply don't feel any reason for this excuse of a game to be exist other than for the publisher to rip off honest veterants seeking for nostalgy. That's just my opinion, your experience may differ, as they say.

I'm much more interested in stankans wonderful Commandos HD Project Mods, uniting all the levels of all three games under the same platform in glorious full hd resolution. I would love to see it continued and finished, because that's the true love letter to Commandos.

I've tried the HD Remaster and I completely agree with this. It feels broken, bugged, glitchy, and a framerate hell for my PC. I'm aware they did some updates, but I'm not buying a downgraded product. In particular, I was very disappointed to see glitched enemies and messed up functions. The only new thing that I didn't dislike was the options menu for hotkeys, I mean it's not that I ever used that anyway, but it seemed tidier and more organized..

No idea if anyone still has the files, but the Remaster got updated recently and medkits are now green instead of Red. (so in theory someone might be able to mod the red medkits back.)

Probably to appease the Red Cross.

Although I'm not a fan of the HD remaster, I'll still drop a link here: https://www.fanatica...your-own-bundle

I had Praetorians HD Remaster on my wishlist, which for some magical reason actually does bring value to the game, which the original is incapable of anymore, in modern resolution on operating system support and especially multiplayer connectivity, and had to choose 2 additional games to have the 3,33 euros/game price. So if you have 10 euros for 3 games, and still looking for Commandos 2 HD remaster, I don't think a better deal could come in the near future.

Hello to everyone! I got my hands back on commandos HD remaster. I would like to bring my mods on the unity engine. I am looking for someone who knows how to use unity and can give me a hand in what could become a new project... Is there anyone who knows how to unpack and repack unity files? I know how to edit the game files of the BASE.PCK file.

(Commandos HD Project is alive)

The main and only question is: we can import the HD remaster improves to the original game? since the mod destination paris is the base of our work, and the original engine is better than hd remaster because it have multiplayer. Well, the only improves I see in HD remaster is the hd .abi and the faces. Commandos 3 faces are the best since now, but noone imported all of them + edited blood state. Also in commandos 3 Natacha and the driver are missing.

I also believe that the original Commandos 2 engine is the way to go, and not the Unity engine despite all of its promises. Great to see you being active again though @stankan.

To answer your question about unpacking Unity files, there is an utility called Unity Asset Bundle Extractor, quite a while ago I was for example able to extract UI elements of Shadow Tactics.

Personally I think the commm3 engine would be the best if it wasnt for the lack of bloody co-op

They are several tools for working with programs which run on Unity, being
Asset Studio ( for extracting/converting data)

Asset Ripper which export part or all the files on a way one can recreate them again using unity (This is the base of the unofficial ports which are doing for psvita, as example..).

I am agree with you on the fact than it is better using another engine than Unity but it can help a lot.

Look my post "Open Source".

Imo THe biggest advantage of commandos 2 &3 remastered is that they allow to play with controller, similarly to Desperados 3 and other mimi games. And  honestly, the result is really good .

Why bother to play with controller ? As for me, I have some carpa tunnal syndrome and I avoid to play with keyboard and mouse as much as I can and I advice everybody to to the same.  PLaying with mouse really hurts the carpa tunnal.

So I hope, Commandos 2&3 remastered will  be one day without bug and glitch and eventually with some amazing mods like destination paris etc..
