I made a huge and highly detailed 8 players Map for our favorite game.
I did it with the corsix mod studio mission editor.

I spent at least a month working on this map.
BUT

fool I am
I did not run the corsix mod studio "as administrator"
SO
The maps files are not available for me to copy them ad share them
for me it's a tragedy (and for you, because the map is damn cool)
...
If anyone knows how to recover those files, I would be REALLY glad !
...
Here are some screenshots of the map :

///

There is some city parts, some forest parts, some swamps etc
///
I made two other maps like that but smaller, so if any one as the solution there would be 3 new maps for every body !
///
Thank you !

Whoa, the map is awesome and impossibly detailed... :ohmy:

I suppose this is the reason it took so much time - it is exquisite!

Regrettably, I do not know how to help you brother.

See, I have never used the Mission Map Editor.

The man that is the most capable of answering your question and offering assistance is brother Kasrkin :aarambo:

Let's hope he can help, because the map is AWESOME.

Thank you very much man !
I'm glad you saw at least the work contained in this map; I took it as much as an art defy than I though it as a strategy defy for players.
I planed to add more details in it but as soon as I realised that I couldn't copy the files I stopped working on it.

Hope he got some solution too :D
then I could finish the map, share it and anyone could enjoy it !

PERFECT!!

Man, are you kidding??? There is MUCH love in this map!!

Not only the detail, but also the design :grad:

GOOD work. We need such maps, the game is NOT only about races - we need a ground to PLAY UPON!

A solid and beautiful ground.

I'm assuming you mean you've made the maps in the Official DC Map Editor, as Corsix doesn't have a map editor.

I don't see what difference running the editor as an admin should make to you being able to copy the map files. Can you provide some more details about exactly what's going wrong e.g. any error messages you may be getting?

Don't know what to say, thank you man !
I really like creating maps, but this story stopped me in my creating process ^^
Hope I can get those files back so I can get this map done !

Well there is an option in the corsix mod studio named "mission editor" and that's the tool I'm using to create maps. Maybe that's the official DC map editor that the Corsix Studio allows me to use, don't know.

about the details :
I created my map running the corsix studio not as admin

When I run the game with the corsix studio not as admin the map is playable and I can find the files to edit the map
When I run the game with the corsix studio runned as admin I can't find the map to play it in the game and the files seem not existing. When I do ""open"" to edit the map there is no file.
When I go by myself to the concerned folders (data/scenario/mp) there is no file, nowhere, even if I search for them with the window's file searching tool (even if I put all the ""show hidden files"" options on).
I tried to edit the map and save the files on the desktop but that's impossible.
I tried to do ""open"" (with the mission editor) and copy the files from the window where I'm meant to open the files to edit them and then past them somewhere else, but that's impossible.
I tried to use "remo", a software to recover hidden and deleted files, but it founds nothing.

here is a screenshot of the error message I get when I run the corsix as admin and try to save the map anywhere else the root folder.
I'll take some more screenshots of the error messages when I try some thing or another

Attached File  Capture d’écran (27).png   1.08MB   0 downloads

here is the files list when I run the studio not as admin (my maps files names are "giant project", "giant project 2", two files but the same project / later I did two other "versions" named "kebaxmap" and "kebaxstation" but the screenshot you'll see are mostly taken before I did those new files; anyway there is the same problem with all the files)

so as you see I can edit the map when I run the studio not as admin, but the files are not there when I run it as administrator and when I go in the same folder by myself there is no ""giant project"" file anywhere, even when i do a research or by any mean I tried yet

Attached File  Capture d’écran (28).png   985.42KB   0 downloads

I tried to copy the files from that window but Windows tell me that it can't find the files when I try to paste them anywhere.

and here is one more screenshot of the map I forgot to post in the first post, you can see the map is not really finished, I need to put some more details in it to make it really immersive.

Try running the Mission Editor directly (i.e. not via Corsix) and see what happens. It should be in your Dark Crusade installation folder.

Allright so I tried running the Mission editor not via Corsix :

As administrator
when I do ""open recent"", there was the ""giant project/Kebax Station"" in the list because I edited it recently (but running the shit not as admin), but when I select it here is the error message I get :

and when I run it Not as administrator

I can open the map and edit it, I tried to save it anywhere else than in the mp folder of the mod I saved it at the first place. I tried to save it in another mod's mp folder and here is the message error I get :

Attached File  Capture d’écran (99).png   1.1MB   0 downloads

And when I go in the mp folder by myself here is the files list, as you can see there is no "kebax station" or "Giant Project" or "Giant Project 2" or any file related to the map :

Attached File  Capture d’écran (100).png   218.42KB   0 downloads

So it is exactly the same than when I run the ME via Corsix (as admin or not as admin).
I'm really frustrated about all the work I gave into this map, and I know it is a good playground, so it is too bad I can't share it...

PS : I first saved this map into the mp folder of the M42 mod, and in the last screenshot you can see I'm trying to save it in the mp folder of the Cinematic Battle mod, I make this precision to avoid confusion.

When you open up the Mission Editor, try starting a new map. In the "New Scenario" box that opens, are M42 and Cinematic Battles shown in the available mod list?

I still think its in

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Dawn of War - Dark Crusade

If its not there open your map without admin privileges, then click open, then click the drop down menu to see what directory its saved in.

translation of the error message :

Check the orthograph and retry.

I don't understand, sorry ^^
When I want to open the map to edit it (running the map editor without admin priv) the files are in the mp folder of the M42 mod.
When I go by myself in this folder there is no file

You need to replace username with your real username when you do that search.
And make sure you've enabled "show hidden files and folders" in windows.

You were right !
The files were in the virtual store !!
I just didn't see the "username" stuff haha !
PROBLEM SOLVED
I GOT THE MAPS !!
Well, I think, I got to test that to be sure !
///
Now I'm wondering how to share the map, what could be the best way ?
You certainly have more experience than me about that.
///
THANK YOU so much ! You saved 1 month of work !
///
Now I'm working on a huge Catachan Jungle map, but evrerything is bugging on my computer, I think it's dying slowly, don't know if I'll be able to finish it. Sad because I designed the map for it to be really challenging to play (because the game is too easy) and I think I managed to make the game difficult just by the map design.
///
Well thank you again !

Upload to ModDB if you wish to share. Maps usually go in the addons section.

Just backup the map files somewhere until you can either fix or replace your computer.
