Hello, everyone. I just registered to share my finding with you. I just beat Commandos 2 (GOG version) and decided to give this mod a try because it looks very, very promising. Long story short, apparently, I've managed to run it at real 1920x1080 resolution. No screen stretching. I don't know why this works, just found it by chance, but perhaps some talented modder will find the underlying reason.

Before playing Commandos 2 vanilla I found this link, which provides some modified exes to play the game at higher resolutions. I suppose this link should be very well known to you, commandos fanatics:

https://sites.google...home/commandos2

As you will probably know, any resolution higher than 1440x900 causes severe graphical glitches and makes the game unplayable, so I stuck with that. The game looks amazing, although I had to play it in windowed mode in my HD monitor for the graphics to look crisp.

Once I beat the game, installed Destination Paris (updated to 2.4 version) and found I couldn't play it even at 1440x900. This annoyed me inmensely, so I started messing around with the files looking desperately for a solution, and here's what I did after installation, it is stupidly simple:

1- Replace comm2.exe with the modded exe for 1440x900 resolution.

2- I don't know if this is important, but I replaced the sound files with the original spanish ones, as I played it when it was released about 20 years ago. As I say, it makes no sense why this should affect the game's video settings, but since I have no idea why this works I prefer to mention it. What I eventually want is someone smarter to find out why this works.

3- Just run comm2p.exe, and... voila!

I've just started playing the game and so far no issues found. Scroll, menus... everything is fine!! Here you have a few screenshots. One of the is from a smaller map, where you can see how beyond its limits everything is just black. The only problem I've found is that if you Alt+Tab, the game closes. Just don't do it.

Please give it a try, I hope this will help everyone enjoying this awesome game as much as I do and forgive any grammar or spelling mistakes. As you can infer fom point 2, I'm not an english native speaker.

Let's keep Commandos 2 alive!

Best regards,

EDIT: I realized the attached images are not saved at their original resolution, so I uploaded them to postimage:

Does comm2p.exe in turn call comm2.exe? I never thought about this. Not surprised AV software goes apeshit.

Well, apparently it does... It struck me as strange that after having played Commandos 2 at 1440x900, the Destination Paris mod would not allow me to play it on a window that size, even when I ran comm2.exe instead of comm2p.exe. It made no sense to me, so I reckoned comm2.exe had been replaced by the mod and, since I had nothing to lose, decided to give it a try replacing comm2.exe with the modded one I had been using until then... and it worked apparently. I had little time to test it, but I intend to fire it up again during this week and verify it works as well as it looks at first glance.

Have you tried doing the same? By the way, I'm running Windows 10 Pro .Forgot to mention that, just in case it's important.
