Can't game online with others

I have steam version of Red Alert 3. I can successfully hook and get online Red Alert 3. Problem is every time someone tries to join me they get "host has left the game" errors, and when I join others they can't start they get errors that suggest hosts to kick me. I want to play coop with my buddies and can't do that without this issue resolved.
