I am having some trouble playing CR, or even normal YR, online with my new computer. I just got it in September and i thought it would run YR better than my 5 year old PC. However, when I play online, the game runs very slow and there is a 2-3 second delay between when I click on a unit and when it reacts. I do not have this problem on my older PC, which can't run anything better than YR. Does anyone know how to fix this?

OLD PC: 500mhz AMD K7 processor, 256mb RAM, 16mb Voodoo3 video card
NEW PC: 3.0ghz Intel P4 processor, 512mb RAM, 256mb ATI Radeon 9550 video

both PCs have CD/DVD drives and about half of their hard drives are empty.

I have the compatability set already, Code Red wouldn't run at all without compatability set for Windows 98. Skirmish games run faster on the 3.0Ghz PC than on the older one, but online games have a "delay" while playing. Since I can only run one PC at a time, they use the same Ethernet cord, so that isn't the problem. Could it be the NIC somehow?

Do you only have this problem when running Code Red or Ra2/YR in general?

The most obvious thing would be the settings for you modem/connection however, perhaps a firewall?

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Andre 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

This problem comes up when I try to play Code Red and Yuri's Revenge on my new PC. However, my new PC has no trouble running newer C&C games like Generals and Zero Hour. Maybe the computer is too good/too fast for YR, but is that even possible?

Yes, I still get this problem playing YR without Code Red, at first I thought it was just CR but now that I've play a few YR games I notice the problem appearing there, too.

Did you patch YR to version 1.001?

What videocard/ soundcard do you have? Did you check for conflicts?
I recall a patch to run YR on XP machines (on C-Gen??) but i'm not certain where to get it.

My video card is a ATI RADEON 9550 AGP(256MB). I'll try to find that patch on C-GEN, I never heard about that before.

Tonight I was able to play CR with a friend who has a PC like mine, it has almost identical system specs to my PC, and Code Red ran smoothly. So I think the problem may have been that the other people I had played with have slower PCs, compared to mine, and my PC may have been trying to adjust. Again, I don't even know if that is possible, but that is what happened.

Is the patch something that only I will need to install on my comp, or does eveyone I play with need it also? Because during that game, I was not able to try out the patch.
