[FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE]

The Dawn of Skirmish Advanced AI Mod v1.4 is now live!

Download v1.4 Right Here!

Just download it from the above link, install it, it should uninstall previous version, run the newly created v1.4 shortcut (if you asked for it) on the desktop, when in the main menu it should say v1.4 on the top left side of the screen. Play a game or two or fifty and prepare for Skirmish AI not seen in DoW!

Don't forget the README.TXT that come with the installation - read it for our extensive changelog.

Thanks to everyone on the team and thanks for being patient: ITS BEEN A WILD LAST FRIDAY when v1.40 came out and nearly sunk our project. However, a day later we conquered and as a team I am bloody pleased to present you our PRE-EXPANSION AI MOD!

When WinterAssault arrives after Sept 19th we'll be busy first playing the expansion then get started on seeing how our project fits in and if any new advanced AI features made it in. EXCITING TIME LAY AHEAD!

**ATTENTION**
This is meant for v1.40 of Dawn of War! No other versions will work as it will error out if you try to run on anything other than v1.40!

Now, damn it, go and enjoy some serious AI ownage!

Is this the same as 4b?

Also, where would I upload a 4.5 megabyte replay? I have a 3 hour FFA you must see. Everything from a return from the dead by a Chaos comp to a massive struggle for survival between brothers. One of the best games I've ever played in any RTS...

Also, where would I find very large 8player FFA maps? penal colony and doom chamber are just too small.

I'm not sure if there are many maps bigger than those since the map editor needs a huge amount of memory to deal with a 1024 size map (or so I've heard).

Hmm. I have a huge amount of memory. I might try the map editor sometime.

Here's the replay!

As you can tell I was quite lazy early on. Pay attention to the Chaos player and the Eldar early on. Also watch how I defeat one of the SM players that was close to me.

It gets much more interesting near the second half and beyond. Make absolutely sure you have persistent bodies on and decals, and have either Red, White, the Chaos player, or myself selected to see the fully decorated battlefield at the end. (Things killed by people outside of the selected player's view aren't persistent... FIX IT RELIC!)

Man, I really don't like that dead body option, it confuses me, but I do like persistant decals.

I've been playing valley of Korne, SM vs SM on INSANE....all morning...it's absolutely awesome!

The SM are vicious (i haven't won yet, but battles have gone on for 30 minutes or more..I've come close!)...the SM's get several land cruisers, and always tech before I can...they'll have their orbital relay built before I can get my stronghold upgraded to get the orbital...it's obvious they have a serious resource advantage even when I try to decap/cap all the criticals.

Long story short, insane makes for some extemely challenging, looong games, that really are alot of fun. Being beaten down hasn't been so much fun...now, soon I'll play on harder again so I can reinspire my troops! LOL.

Great work AI peeps.

Aye. That FFA was on Insane. I noticed very rarely do orc or eldar last against the SM. The only reason the Chaos did then was because the invading army got jacked mid-battle and left to defend their base. The Chaos player manage to rebuild everything, stronghold included, and get a decent defending force before entering the fray again.

I must also say trying to defeat an insane SM with infinite resources is very, very tough. You'll see how I managed to do it if you watch that replay...

Whew! Very difficult...I managed a win on valley of Korne, SM vs CHAOS on insane difficulty...this was tough, it took me all morning to figure out how to adjust my strat to win...check it out if you'd like, and I'm eager to see any one elses' replays on insane difficulty with 1.4 and 1.4 skirmish...that's a tough combo!

The download link doesn't work anymore. Any alternative way to dl the mod ? I'm really tired by the AI spawning always the same kind of units in DoW

We're at v1.5 now.. However, you still need v1.4? If so..

v1.5 can be made to work in older v1.40 but that would require investigation. We're progressive and want to support future WA revisions.

Ha, this still works! Though I need to rename the WA mod folder, module, and in-module reference to have this and the WA version together in the same game folder.

While this is a massive improvement over vanilla AI, it's a shame you guys abandoned the DoW1 version when WA came out. WA has different (and frankly, inferior) balance and army compositions compared to DoW1, so it would be nice if DoS AI worked just as well in the original game. (As it is, AI seems to get "stuck" a lot, refusing to produce units until either 1. its base is in direct danger or 2. its previous produced batch of units have all died. It also seems to often refuse to fill out the vehicle cap despite 1000s of resources.)

After all, where else are you going to get a 20/20 army consisting of 4 Land Raiders and 5 Terminator Squads without modding the game!
