Hey corsix,

You mentioned some points (and looking at the screenshot) and stuff about the tool.

I'd love to know what your ambitions are with it, considering it is a nice addition to the DOW tools as it plugs gaps.

And also, can we request features and suggest changes since we're testing it? Or have you gone past the stage where you think you'll add more stuff to the underlying core?

The kind of overall mision statement is: Any DoW file that is or was text based should be editable with this tool.

As for features / changes; yup, the core is still under development per se.

So, are you going to add a SCAR script checker or part compiler? Its one feature which grinds my boans - without using some crappy LUA text editor I don't like, I can't even find basic LUA errors in my scripts until I run the game, sigh...

If that could be in built, with a syntax editor some features as good as TextPad's, I'd be a happy bunny

A lua syntax checker does sound like a good idea - it shall be implemented

It'd also notably work on any .lua, .scar and .ai files, since these are all based on LUA coding.

I can provide a near-complete list of valid functions too, if you want to write in some checks for valid calls of functions.

And for syntax, the LUA website obviously doesn't have all the dawn of war functions. the wiki's textpad syntax file is out of date, I need to update it, but can update it if you want to add any kind of text editor/syntax thing.

Thanks Corsix!

Gawd almighty this rocks! How the heck did this sub-forum on Revora's official DoW/WA AI forum get created? Wicked.. Shocked as I thought I could only convince the Revora staff to create one! Excellent someone went direct to em.

Corsix - ACE JOB buddy! You've been garnishing those programming skills for just under a year (since you brilliantly coded some amazing AI work for our project) and now going ballisitic by helping this community in a big way! Fabulous!

I'm surprised the AI mod don't have a sub forum. The root forum should be for general stuff...

It does but we never have any outside abuse from passerbys so we keep it in the general forum. We have used the private forums to discuss other more sensitive issues but those are so few and far between. Plus, our work isn't exactly a super-secret. Its just code.. our work hypes itself and its not like many people know how to do what we do best so stealing it not knowing how to use it efficiently is not a problem for us.
