Military Structure
Army (3 army corps, or 9 divisions, with attached headquarters staff, signals battalion, support staff, and artillery, commanded by a General or Field Marshal, XO: Lieutenant General, rates Aide-de-camp, classified materials director, mechanized artillery brigade, integrated air support wings.)
Army Corps (3 divisions with attached headquarters staff, signals battalion, support staff, and artillery, commanded by a Lieutenant General or Major General, XO: Colonel, rates Aide-de-camp, classified materials director, mechanized artillery brigade.)
Division (7 brigades with attached headquarters staff, signals battalion, support staff, and artillery regiment, commanded by a Brigadier General or Colonel, XO: Lieutenant Colonel)
Brigade (3 battalions with attached headquarters staff and artillery regiment, commanded by a Lieutenant Colonel, XO: Major)
Battalion (5 companies with attached headquarters staff, commanded by a Major, XO: Captain)
Company (4 platoons, 4th platoon is heavy weapons, commanded by a Captain, XO: 1st Lt)
Platoon (4 squads, commanded by a 2nd Lieutenant)
Squad (10 men, commanded by a Sergeant or Staff Sergeant)
Combat Team (5 men, commanded by a Corporal or Sergeant, 2 per squad in infantry forces. Equivalent to one tank in an armored division, or one halftrack in a mechanized division)
Special units:
Battlegroup (4 brigades commanded by a Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel, usually armored and mechanized forces designed to deliver a knockout punch to larger units)
Front (Anywhere between 1 army and 10 armies grouped by geographic area, all coordinated by an intricate logistics system and commanded by a Field Marshal or the Grand Marshal)
Army Group (Anywhere from 1 division to three armies, commanded by a field marshal, designed to advance independently into enemy territory. Contains integrated air support wings and logistics division)
Special ranks:
Grand Marshal (Honorific title bestowed upon a Field Marshal upon his ascension to Supreme Commander, Atlantian Forces. Dress insignia is entwined gold thread with marble crossed field marshal batons, and laurels of grape leaves surrounding the batons at the center of the rank piece. Also a title bestowed upon five of Atlantia's greatest generals during the 37 Years War, remains a legitimate military title for times of war when high ranking generals are needed to lead the armies)
General of Armored Troops (Honorific title bestowed upon the General in charge of all Atlantian armored forces, and the director of the Army's Armored Inspectorate.)
