Amid glorious celebrations today, the Assembly passed a measure by Supreme Commander of Atlantian Forces, Grand Marshal Pierre-Henri Teitgen, to completely modernize the Atlantian Military. The Supreme Commander was quoted as saying "Rising tensions have forced us to look to our strength of arms, we will never be bullied by a larger power, we will never be thrown around like countries of inferior culture or inferior power, and we will defend ourselves wherever needed." Following the approval of the measure, the chiefs of each department of the armed forces delivered production orders to authorized government contractors regarding the production of new units. The expected price of rearmament is expected to reach well into the tens of billions of perenas, costs which will be paid for by the export of resources to neighbors, increased tarriffs, and added commercial and personal taxes.

Pythogria applauds this modernization. So long as this military is used rationally and properly, we see no need (and have no want) to intervene at all, and will oppose anyone who does. Just don't raise takes and tarrifs too high.

Congradulations.

The Free Republic similarly conveys its support for its good friend and ally the Atlantian Empire. May both our great nations' borders be forever defended by our glorious armed forces.

As per a prior agreement with the Atlantian Empire, one of the three of Flight 1-A, designated AES Javelin, has been transferred to the Belkan Navy. It retains its moniker, however the designate code has changed to BNS - SP. The ship will join Danr Fleet, and her design and manufacture methods researched, and possibly reverse-engineered in a new class of submarine to replac the Viper-Class.

Three additional vessels, consisting of Flight IB, have been completed. The AES Thionville, AES Montcalme, and AES De Grasse have been completed, and are awaiting commissioning next week.
The AES Glorious has been primarily completed, and is currently awaiting appropriate munitions from the Belkan navy, and a flight of F-35s to be released from the Air Force reserve pool. Due to construction delays, the AES Honorata remains at 60% complete.

Flight IC of the Pike-II class SSNX has been completed. The AES Dragon, AES Danae, and AES Colombo have been launched. Additionally, the AES Glorious' commissioning ceremony is expected to take place next week, to be attended by Grand Admiral Pietri and the Emperor. The AES Honorata has been delayed by the rebellion, but is still 80% complete.
The Air Force has finally finished construction of over half of its ordered aircraft, while the Self Defense Force has completed the majority of the tanks ordered, and is now waiting on training to be completed at Fort Cartago.

The AES Honorata and the recently redesignated (Due to the Glorious carrier project) AES Victory have both been launched and have joined the Joint Submarine Fleet, a combination of all active submarines in the Empire, and are officially joining Operation Peacemaker, the second blockade of the criminal Pythogrian state.
Flight ID of the first Pike-II class SSN production run has been completed. The AES Chautemps, AES de Verdillac, and AES Gromaire have been launched, named in honor of two leaders of the nation who were brutally assassinated during the coup which claimed thousands of lives, and a notable national hero who attempted to apprehend the suspects but lost his life in service of his country.

Flight IE of the Pike-II class SSN has been launched after completing production at Oporto Naval Shipyard last week. The AES Pluton, AES Dupleix, and AES Suffren have been launched, ending the officially planned first line of Pike class submarines. An official statement by the Department of the Navy estimated the official total cost at $17.6 billion, most of which has been completely paid for by money obtained from the Pythogrian economy and slightly increased taxes. The Navy has not officially announced a second flight yet, but has stated that the fourteen submarines will undergo intense scrutiny, and will be evaluated during all future operations to attempt to iron out any issues in preparations for another upgrade. The AEXS Pike and AEXS Flying Fish have been redesignated SSN-760 and SSN-775 respectively, and have been put into drydock to undergo extensive refit to the Pike production model.

The total list of vessels is below:
AES Pike (SSN-760 - Undergoing refit)
AES Lamprey (SSN-761)
AES Hagfish (SSN-762)
AES Thionville (SSN-763 - Undergoing repairs)
AES Montcalme (SSN-764)
AES Degrasse (SSN-765)
AES Dragon (SSN-766)
AES Danae (SSN-767)
AES Colombo (SSN-768)
AES Chautemps (SSN-769)
AES De Verdillac (SSN-770)
AES Gromaire (SSN-771)
AES Pluton (SSN-772)
AES Dupleix (SSN-773)
AES Suffren (SSN-774)
AES Flying Fish (SSN-775 - Refit On Hold)

In order to fund refits for further subsurface units, the Atlantian Navy is offering the AES Flying Fish (SSN-775) left at the Pike-I pre-production specifications for an estimated $1.2 billion which may be negotiated upon if a potential buyer materializes.

Additionally, the AES Ocean (CVLN-45), AES Perseus (CVLN-46), and AES Glory (CVLN-47) have partially completed in Oporto and have officially received orders for aircraft. They are expected to launch by the end of the year. The vessels of the Favreau CVLN line will join two Requin class destroyers and three Trebonia class fleet defense cruisers provided by the Naval Rearmament Plan Expansion dated 16 Jun 06. Additionally, the Expansion plan, funded by former Pythogrian funds, expects to have four Monarch class nuclear battlecruisers in operating capacity within one year.
