Geopolitical Situation:
Overview:
The Peoples Republic of Rivana is a state with a newly established government. The
revolutionaries who overthrew the previous government are still in rule, hence the
actions performed are mostly of extremist nature, but idealistic enough to continue
develop socialism for the time being. The nation's new leaders along with the
international pressure on a government that declines capitalism face serious internal
problems regarding institutions such as the Church of Rivana, fighting to reestablish a
state religion yet again, even though 8 years haven't passed since Free Religion was
established by the revolutionaries. The country economy is run completely by the state,
which conducts all the trade relations by specialised institutions.
The revolutionaries took care to develop strong national feelings in the country,
propaganda posters have their place everywhere, advertising workplaces, the government
system and the country itself as well as each of the 3 revolutionary leaders. The country
is mostly cast out by it's neighbours on the continent, because of it's extremely
national economic policy. It is therefore establishing it's with the more distant
countries, who most likely view its position on the world map as a very strategic one. It
struggles to stand as independent from them as it can though, but also to play a major
role on the world forum.
Country Leadership and the Government itself:
The premier (head of state) is Juliani Prokorov,

Head of internal affairs is Bukharin Emilia.
They were all part of the revolution. The power they have is almost equal yet the Premier is still regarded as the official leader of the state.
They are also heads of the Rivanan Revolutionary Party, which is comprised of about 10,000 members.
The country capital, Lebada is located in the north of the country.
The Rivana Intelligence Agency acts as secret police, as well as intelligence gathering. The secret police itself however is mostly dedicated to counter-espionage inside the country, most people do not have to fear any kinds of reprisals. The RIA however has the power to brand any citizen as spy, therefore most people generally tend to avoid the subject of politics in public.
Geography and Economy:
The country is of diverse terrain, mostly temperate climate to the south, but more arid to the north. The north is laden with mountains while the west has extremely fertile farmland. The Rivanan mountains hold a rather large supply of iron and uranium, as well as copper. All of these being extremely important resources. On the west the rich farmlands grow sugar and tobacco, making for great export goods; as well as a sufficient amount of food to feed the current population. The southern-west areas are pretty useless defensively though, in the event of war if the farmlands were to be seized, the whole country would be able to withstand a maximum of 7 days - afterwards the national reserves would be gone. The hill ring on the far south is populated with defensive points which make for a fairly cohesive defensive line. Although it has been built roughly over 20 years ago, it is under renovation and could still hold it's own against a armored assault. The east of the country makes for it's naval exploataion, every shoreline town or city having a fully fledged harbor and docks. The country heavily relies on it's fish and caviar export, and is exploring the ability to build and sustain oil platforms on the northern straights. A large cut of the profits is populated by tourism, which is heavily promoted by the government, and draws many foreigners seeking a good vacation. The arms industry has been dismantled after the fall of the monarchy and refitted for civilian use - such as the automobile industry. This helped the economy even further, but created a gap in Rivana's military technology. As such most military units in service are outdated, and the primary tactics are based more on hit and run than on forceful attacks.
Military:
Official estimates show about 2,600,000 soldiers on duty. Unofficial estimates however show a number closer to 2,540,000 soldiers, still an impressive number. Rivana recently started to show interest in the military exports of Belka to equip their own army, their own arms industry changed into civilian industries mostly. Most cities contain a garrison. The country possesses no nuclear capability as of yet. The country's defense is grouped primarily around the defensive lines placed loosely around the Rivanan border. These are old fortifications build around 15 years ago in the monarchy period, although they stand strong they require much conservation. The Rivanan government decided not to finish the construction of the defense lines after a prominent general started to reform the entirety of the Rivanan ground army, developing more modern tactics that do not rely on these old defensive lines as much.

Culture:
The Rivanan culture is mostly influenced from other parts of the world, especially after the revolution. The country itself however provides more than enough cultural value. Everyone permitted free education, even when studying on university. After the abolishment of the theocracy, the revolutionary government has declared the right to free religion for all people. They also dropped the concept of a state religion.
