On this day, Yuktobania will be remembered for the greatest military undertaking in the history of our world: Project HOUND. Project HOUND is a program designed to see if a large, interchangeable weapons platform is feasible, boh economically and militarily. Powered by hydrogen fuel cells, the HOUNDs will be expected to achieve a top speed of 180 km/hour. It will take some time for the weapons platform to be implemented, if at all, but it is guaranteed to be able to suvive harsh environments, thanks to an NBC ventilation system, and will be used to back up our hundreds of tanks already in service, and the thousnds of infantry also in service. After the technology and propulsion systems are achieved, the plans will be available for export to select countries.

When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself,
first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land,
and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain.

OOC: They can be... :p You wanna know why? Google HOUNDs. Oh, this is for CCW2, so Spence, you don't have to flip out. :)

OOC: 100mi/hr tanks are like... thirty years in the future. At the moment, we can't even get a regular engine to run efficiently on hydrogen, how do you figure we can get a diesel turbine which gets 0.6mi/gal normally to run on hydrogen effectively in the next ten years?
It just seems like an exercise in practicality to me... it would take a lot of money and time and you'd still just be coming out with a prototype...

OOC: Well, it's actually mechs... I'm allowing them in limited use just because they are kinda sweet. I don't see how a walking monstrosity (which is inefficient compared to a tank tbh) would reach that speed, though.

Aha! If you would actually go and look at the site, there are certain mechs that can. Not with legs, mind you, with hover pods and junk. And, there's even a hovercraft leg part, so it can be achieved. It's not like I can't swap parts, there's an interchangeability factor in this project... :p

OOC: 100mi/hr is impossible for anything that walks. It's just not possible in the next two hundred years... even mechs are at least thirty five years out...

No way could you make hundreads of these, they would cost to much and with fuel cells you could never achieve those speeds its impossible.

OOC: So some people get what's going on here, and to quell critics:

1. It's an RP. Get off my back, if you would so kindly. Other people are going to have mech walkers in CCW2, so I'm getting the word out there for mine ahead of time. And, apparently you still aren't getting what I was talking about when I said "hovercraft leg part". The legs aren't actually legs, they're a hovercraft base. That floats a few meters off the ground. No resistance whatsoever. But, as they can't hold up heavier weapons platforms, they are interchangeable with leg parts, to keep building and manufacturing costs down. The same way you would switch armament on a plane, you could change the parts on the mech. That's the interchangeability part of the project.

2. Who said I was building hundreds? :p Maybe hundreds of guns, but not hundreds of HOUNDs. Spare parts to make more, perhaps, but there will only be up to 30 in active service at any one time. And, this is for CCW2. Not going to make an appearance in the current RP, as that wouldn't be fair, that is unless it's to counter the Shagohod. :)

OOC: Which is why I'm allowing it to go ahead. So far we have three factions which will field mechs in CCW2: Yuktobania, Belka, and the Clan Wolf.

0_o And what exactly are you people trying to accomplish with mechs? They are less mobile than tanks, and a shot to the leg will put it down. So WTF?

In that case I'll have a space station with lasers on it, and the USS Enterprise. If I can, I'll try and get away with a submersible, flying aircraft carrier.
Mechs have about a 1 in 4,000 chance of being fielded in the next seventy years, let alone the next ten years... and now everyone's deciding to use them...
Why don't we all have uber-god tech, hell, why don't we just take to the stars and turn it into the Intergalactic Circum-Centro War, after all, we all know that it's all ten years in the future!

The ubertech ruins it... really...
