FT. CARTAGO-
In an unexpected move today, the Atlantian Armed Forces Acquisitions and Contracting Department announced that it had reviewed proposals for new assault rifles from leading Atlantian companies submitted in high secrecy several months ago, and had determined a final candidate. The F-2 Advanced Adaptable Weapon System (AAWS) from Moulnier Armaments Inc. has been chosen to replace the aging FAMAS F-1 system currently used by all branches of the armed forces. Multiple versions will be distributed for infantry, special operations, military police, and a carbine version will serve as a personal defense weapon. The design continues to use the standard 5.56x45mm cartridge, however some have theorized about a possible support light machine gun version with a 7.62mm cartridge.
