People forget to remember that Emo is a type of music not a fucking style. Emo, or Emotional Punk Rock is just that: A type of Punk Rock with Emotional lyrics. That's all. Only ass-holes think it has anything to do with cutting yourself and being depressed. Technically any song that has emotional lyrics, by your standards, would be considered Emo. Plus, most of the bands society as a whole considers Emo are actually not becasue bands like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance don't have a punk rock feel most of the time. My Chemical Romance is actually similar to Thursday in style which are both a type of Rock that isn't really classified as anything because its a bit heavier than most rock bands.

Basically, people should read up on generas becasue most people are completly iggnorant about them.

That is true Jsmooth but Emo is not just a music genre now it has moved into a style and a way of living now, hence why more and more people are doing it.
Useing your logic Gothic should still only be classed as a form of building style back in the medievil & Victorian times, but now its also a style for many kids. Things change in time.

However i do agree about Ali's shitty post, there was no need for that.

Dude, nobody hates emo because it has emotions in it. At least I hope not. Most people hate emo because it reeks of bullshit. It's either about how bad someone's girlfriend was, how bad she dumped them, how 'shitty' their life is or about how bad their parents were. Yeah, great choice of lyrics guys. Pick something that doesn't suck like some great historical event or nuclear war.

Only BAD bands are like that.


I'm not trying to defend the bands that suck, ie Fall Out Boy and Hawthorne Heights; however some awesome bands that fall under the Emo name belong to the Indie Rock and Long Island Sound generas and it sucks to see these generas shunned because of people's perception of Emo.

I am not an emo.

I have an asymmetrical haircut, the music I listen to is generally very depressing (but no emo bands - instead stuff like Radiohead), I think black and fluorescant pink go together and I own more than one studded belt.

But i'm not emo.

I do, however, hate emo-bashers. Yeah, you're so fucking funny by taking the piss out of emo's because they cut themselves. After all, obviously people cut themselves to get attention. The notion that any of them could have deep psychological problems is obviously RIDICULOUS! I mean, yeah right!

And they do us so much harm! By listening to their music, and wearing their clothes, and SELF-harming...
