At 0500 hours Atlantian local time, the release for use of force against Clandonian forces was signed by the Supreme Commander of Atlantian Forces, Grand Admiral Pietri. Since most of the fleet was still active in the process of ferrying forces from Pythogria to the eastern border of Atlantia, which were mostly the active components of the 2nd Army, only Surface Action Group Monarch was able to provide support for Operation Urgent Assistance. However, the firepower was more than enough. The Surface Action Group consisted of one battlecruiser, the Monarch, the destroyers Levasseur and Phoenicia, the cruisers Ursus and Gloire, and the light carrier Romanus. Together, they had enough firepower to blanket any force attempting to sieze the small port facilities on the small coastline of Yuktobania. Now, however, they were undertaking a different kind of mission.
At 0743 hours, as Atlantian naval forces under Vice Admiral Charles Tillon were busily ferrying tanks to Oporto, the AES Monarch (BCGN-01) opened up three vertical launch tubes and fired three cruise missiles, set to hit pockets of Clandonian resistance which refused to cooperate.
The first shots of the war had been fired.

With the sudden Belkan attack, Operation Great Wall has been accelerated, with the in-country assets of the 2nd Army joining the 1st Army in their march to the Belkan border. Operation Urgent Assistance has been cancelled, and all naval assets are returning to defend the shores.

With a definite lull in the war's progression to the detraction of the Pythogria Occupation Force and the Clandonians, the 2nd Army has reached the Belkan border. Now, defenses are being hastily assembled to defend against possible enemy incursions. Already, the 1st Army was given some time to prepare for this event, ever since the declaration of war on Clandonia and the withdrawal from ComFIAN, and had prepared its infantry in such a way as to maximize anti-tank gun coverage. Armored forces remain in mobile reserve to quickly act against an incursion, while anti-tank guns and artillery positions remain nestled away on and behind hills and near natural forest cover, preparing for the inevitable.

On the Atlantian border, the Belkans had been busy making the biggest minefield in history. Covering the entire border and seven miles deep into Belkan territory, this was a field that wouldn't be crossed with any sort of ease. Behind the field, the Belkans were busy making their own defensive lines, and bringing up just about anything. The city of Holdangrad become an absolute fortress. Civilians were displaced (though not evacuated; the Army would use them as shields) en-masse, many being forced into basements, subways and sheltering pens, the buildings they once lived and worked in were converted to barracks, garissons. Even the hospital had a set of AA guns placed on top of it. SAMs were helicoptered down onto the rooves of skyscrapers and the nearby river was a flood of naval activity. Though many ships had been stationed at the inland sea port, many of those took positions close to Holdangrad, their missiles firmly trained. Not to mention the Scinfaxi-Class skulking beneath the waves. It would surely give hell to any Atlantians that decided they fancied a pop.

1. Due to the recent Clandonian collapse, all forward units are ordered to undertake top precautions in case of chemical weapons attacks. Gas masks are to be provided at all times to any forward or rear units, and headquarters units are to remain NBC sealed. All armored forces will remain NBC sealed until ordered otherwise by High Command or Army Group Command.
